Fantasm, the stage name of Kenzo Meservey, is a rising star in the industrial and rave techno scene. He has been supported by renowned artists on the world scene such as: Shlømo, Nico Moreno, Rebekah, Blicz, Don Woezik. His work by him can be described as fast, hard and industrial techno.

CSQ: Tell us a bit about your local techno scene. How has it shaped you as an artist?

A2XBY: I live in The Netherlands, a small country, which has one of the biggest hard techno scenes in the world. There are multiple raves every weekend. In October 2021, I went for the first time to a rave. At first, I felt a little uneasy and overwhelmed - also because I am always sober - but in the end, I was completely impressed. I loved the boost in energy that the loud music gave me and the amazing laser light show... just wow. In February 2022, I went to Rotterdam Rave for the first time. This event really enhanced my love for techno, and I started going to raves almost every week, yes, sober. After visiting a new underground rave concept in 2022, I discovered my true music preference: industrial techno. It was from that point that I started to realise what aspects of techno I liked and didn’t like, and that sparked my creativity to create my own style. It all started in the beginning of 2023. I released a few tracks, and they were very well received. It was indescribable to hear my songs in real life at raves. Towards the end of 2023, I received unexpectedly a big booking, so that is what started me working as a producer and DJ.

CSQ: Would you like to share anything with the listeners about the set?

A2XBY: This is the first podcast where I’ve tried to keep the energy up the whole time. I do this by having as few breaks as possible and layering many kicks on top of each other.
I try to create a storyline - just like my productions. During the set, the music becomes more and more intense and dark. I’m starting with Bochka and working towards industrial techno. I only use tracks that fit my style and of course there are also some songs of my own.

CSQ: How does the set reflect the development of your style and your DJing since you started?

A2XBY: When I started to DJ my style was non-existent, it was mostly drop, break, drop, break. But after a few months of hard practice, I discovered what my style is: I start at Bochka and gradually work towards the hardest side of Industrial Techno. 
Nowadays, I am focused on making my podcasts feel like stories with constant high energy, and I fill them with the hardest tracks of the industrial scene.

Monnom Black will mark its 17th release with its first various artist compilation presented on triple vinyl. Keeping with the label’s modus operandi, the compilation is packed with iconic, raw and uncompromising techno, featuring 13 artists new and old to the imprint, including a re-release of a classic Drax aka Thomas P. Heckmann track from 1993.

To coincide with the launch of the compilation, Monnom Black will hold its first highly-anticipated label party. Locking arms with the notorious underground Dutch promoters Reaktor, known for their challenging events and pushing the boundaries of what techno has to offer. Together they will celebrate with an electronic onslaught on New Year’s Eve in Amsterdam’s Elementstraat Warehouse. Dann hab ich jetzt das erste mal seit fast 22 Jahren in einem ausrangierten Bus gespielt , Im sitzen und es war pervers Gut. 

Wie man jetzt nen ganzen Bus voll mit Feierscheinen bis zum Dach , in die Luft bekommt, weiß Ich auch.  Im gleichtakt zum Takt im kollektiv hüpfen, das Funktioniert echt,  Ich schwör es . 

Zum Lineup im Bus bleibt nur eins festzustellen. 
Das hat sich jemand richtig kaputtes einfallen lassen. 

Jeder der DJ´s an dem Abend iss ja auf seine Art gestört, aber gleich  5 von der Sorte , das beweißt es gibt wirklich wahnsinnige Eventmanager die auch vor Sowas keinen halt machen.
