Dolenz returns with the follow up to his debut album ‘Lingua Franca’ with another dystopian sci-fi inspired release entitled ‘Golden Spike’.

Once again exploring the fragility of human existence, for the title track he enlisted legendary UK artist Jehst. Spitting over bubbling retro-futurist boom bap Jehst’s lyrics eerily mirror the situation that we currently find ourselves in during the coronavirus lockdown as he raps about being stuck in a “no-fly zone” and the general public being content with “staring at the screen” whilst society falls apart before their eyes.

On the EP Dolenz fuses astrological documentaries with his signature sonic palette. He explores various tempos from the slow psychopathic chugger ‘Murder This’ to the frenetic boom bap inspired ‘Kill This’, culminating in the spaced-out electro banger ‘Dead That’. Nestled amongst that Dolenz dissected a vintage drum break to construct a footwork-inspired acid journey called ‘Polyprop’. 

The track is accompanied by a sparse electronic remix by renowned UK producer Sumgii (Swamp 81/Potent Funk). Dolenz also worked with South West-based filmmaker Dean Puckett (Grasp The Nettle Films) to create the accompanying video. As the video was produced during lockdown, creating new footage was not an option, Dean sourced vintage science, biological, public health and science fiction films from the Prelinger and A/V Geeks Archives then spun them into a narrative about a man who is whisked away from his native planet to aid population on a new one, his dreams filled of haunting memories of his loved ones.

Gantz debuts on Exit Records with two tracks that set him apart from his contemporaries. This release sits perfectly on the label, Gantz has captured the essence of what Exit Records is whilst also moving his artistry further. He delivers two vocal tracks, Garam ft Amos and Rabid ft. Elif Dikec. Amos is a part of A/T/O/S, a duo with a discography that included an album on Deep Medi, Elif Dikec is a classically trained musician and a producer in her own right.

LOCUSM001 marks the start of a new digital series for the label, categorised as 'M' for Multi-genre. We feel this new series provides the perfect outlet for the label to explore outside of it's usual dubstep flavour.

First up on the series is Lewis Woolacott, better know as, Roy Bar. The Bristol based producer and DJ, and close friend of the label, kicks of the 'M' series with a 6 track release entitled 'Icarus'. Built around the title track, the EP showcases the extensive range of Roy Bar’s DJ sets, featuring the sounds of Hip hop / Breakbeat / Garage / Dubstep / Drum & Bass and more.
