Whitesquare - Lady Cherry

The fifth release on Deep Stories Records is a two track EP from No Sé Leon who’s a German producer from Frankfurt known for his releases on Kunsthandwerk, Wood Limited and Uxoa Dutxa Elite.

Both of the tracks blend poignant melodies with uplifting pads to create music that burns itself directly into people's memory.
"Fere" opens the EP with its concise synth and unfolding of the captivating structure, which has an immersive groove perfect for the dance floor. In contrast, "Tamen" has a building arc of tension that develops with blissful suspense that reveals its very own drama.

PREMIERE: No Sé Leon - Tamen [Deep Stories Records]

Propelling more underground sounds in 2022 is Javier Carballo & Berna´s Underyourseat label. This time the chosen pilot is Melgar, a blossoming talent on the circuit who showcases his innovative sound with three intelligently arranged, yet extremely danceable cuts. This is the “Steroids” EP.

Glitchy beeps and bleeps take you for a walk in EP opener “Postvill”, crisp drum programming is the driving force of the track, riding on an elasticated rhythm for trained ears. “Special” teases you down a mysterious path with ethereal textures, but before you know it you come across a sub heavy chugging bass line which takes the wheel. The deep synths and pads build a bubbling spaced out atmosphere, one for the dance floor trip. Title track “Steroids” brings the funk to the EP, an animated quest through tight drums and emotive elements, with the looping groove ready to breathe life into any given DJ set.

Javier Carballo continues to curate essential releases on his anticipated Underyourseat imprint, with a bright outlook taking the label into 2023. The established artist providing his trust in further outstanding up and coming artists.

PREMIERE: Melgar - Postvill (UYS014)

twominds Records second venture comes in the form of Patella’s debut EP; Natural Pathways. The four-track release prioritises percussion, while still finding space for lush pads and organic elements.

Lake Street is a low-slung number featuring snappy drums and a glitchy underlying texture. Subtle touches of rhoads piano paired playfully with organ hits round out the groove. The midway point of the track sees the addition of a ripping 909 hat, driving the track forward.

Where’s Bongo? pairs well with copious amounts of sunshine and a cold beer. A true summer number, the track is propelled by live saxophone courtesy of Rachael Travaille, and as the name would suggest, an array of hand drums!

Plastic Portal sees Patella team up with harvo to produce a composition for the time traveler. The standout element of the track is the otherworldly pad, which has caught dancefloor dwellers with their eyes closed and hands up.

The title track of the EP, Natural Pathways is of slight eastern influence. Lively trumpet stabs andcrashing snares drive this track while perky percussive elements create an ever-evolving soundscape.

Brazilian born come Berlin resident Joyce Muniz teams up with Algerian born come Rome resident DJ producer Sara Bluma for their phenomenal Kompakt debut “Beats & Lines”, an uplifting electro disco affair with plenty of pop appeal. “I met Sara Bluma a year ago, when she booked me to play at one of her parties in Rome. We connected straight away. It was a matter of time that we decided to make some music together. I had this idea for a while, so I sent it to Sara and asked her if she would like to do some vocals. She came up with this great fun text. This tune interprets the energy from both of us. Which is supposed to be fun!“. Mission accomplished… The good vibes between Sara and Joyce are definitely contagious!

London’s Hardt Antoine is back to the mothership with a bang! “I Will” is a sensual, percussion-driven house anthem for those morning hours, when spirits are high and the sense of unity is palpable. “La Mosca” is taking a more hypnotic approach, putting a joyous chant of unknown origin to good use. Something tells us that 2024 will become a banner year for Antoine!
