Although the digital sun shines bright in Tulum always we would say there are some tunes which could be labelled as winter music typically. @igor_bartyuk (from mountainous Caucasian) and @valon_music (from ice-cold Sweden) are the masters of this genre and we're more than happy to work with them on a deep journey up here.

The title track is a very good example how to build a vibe staying low and strange only, very well tested, very well working out, low risk on "Deceit And Pretense". And what deceit and pretense means these times? We'll leave it on you to imagine, hehe.

"Blatant Case" is almost a B side - if you know what B side is - but how the world and dancefloors resonates on sorrowful and dark music we agreed on to include, and to be honest is also a great one. The door opening horror part is our favorite, can feel the tension and see trouble with our third eye after entering the room.

Last year a fan hit us with a really cool feedback on our set and said "noise with a purpose". Licensing his thought on this one.

Anhelo - is a journey, shaping feelings and attitudes into sound.
The lead track (desire) follows a sensitive and minimalistic structure, driving the whole tune forward, allowing space and freedom to let the voice naturally flow (Body, Body, Body…). Soñar Contigo ('Dreaming With You') “was built around the experimentation with my vocals, with the aim of telling you a story - sweet and explosive”. Closing out the EP, Somao is a fun jam between choruses and warm percussion that both walk through a sharp analog synth like liquid silk - Anhelo EP.

Running amongst a selection of soundwaves, textures and melodies, comes Frequencies, Vol. 1: a 12-part story from some of our favourite names to cross the fold. Here to expand and indulge your senses, through the impact of different signals formulating our minds. 

First single, ‘Look At My A**’ sees Yet More and Assayag merge artistic personas once again - and this time showing us a bit of sass. Bustling a bold, thumping bassline, and laced with shallow, rattling kicks and whirring sirens, the duo swear solemnly to their tried-and-tested vocal sample formula. Tongue in cheek, flowing with high-octane energy, this is a satirical dance floor groover which stimulates the senses to make them sway and swell.

Second remix comes from this new young talent from Sweden Carl Dern.
Calle & Clea samples the radiohosts of RBMA Up North so hopefully we
wont get sued : ) It's a dirty dirty track.
We ending the ep with a Swedish version of Balearic house.

A decoy so stunning and mesmerising everyone will stop, listen and finally cease bidding on this elephant. It's a decoy that ripples with timeless synth majesty as it shimmers and rises with dynamics that kick off at an elephantine level. Alex Dimou makes a welcome debut on Crosstown Rebels with What Keeps You There with two great remixes from Cevin Fisher and Avidus.

The EP begins with the enchanting nature of What Keeps You There. A prominent piano roll opens proceedings, with Vili’s moving vocals soon introduced over a chugging bassline. Cevin Fisher’s remix of the title track comes next. A more driving minimal house take on the lead record, subtle kicks converge on rustling percussion, before Vili’s emotive vocals once again form a poignantly heartfelt production. Avidus provide a dance floor-ready rework of the original, that features a mechanical sounding synth and an echoing, electric breakdown, before the EP is rounded off with Let It Be Known, a four-to-the-floor, pumping house cut made up of strong kicks and driving pads.

Alex Dimou is a producer, DJ and remixer whose career has seen him perform all around the global circuit. As a remixer, he has collaborated with the likes of Maya Jane Coles and M.A.N.D.Y, whilst his own releases have found a home on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax as well as renowned Berlin imprint Get Physical Music. Legendary American producer Cevin Fisher has been releasing standout records since 1995, achieving five entries in the UK singles chart between 1998 and 2001. German duo Avidus are regulars on Crosstown Rebels, and continue to run their own imprint Empore Music, which was launched in 2015.

Dear Deer Records is back with more brilliance, this time from Warung, who serves up four hard-hitting techno rollers to get you in the groove. Chaotic Individuality is first and is a rubbery, rugged groove with mad hits and perc up top to keep things loose. Long Drive then sinks into a slick deep house mould, with smooth grooves all uplifted by vocal coos up top and a warm sense of rising soul. 

Mujer De La Noche is a cosmic adventure that stretches out over eight minutes. It has punky hits over prickly kicks and pixelated synths weave in and out to great effect.

 Sabo closes things out with a rugged, industrial-tinged groove that is all-consuming. Dear Deer Records get off to a fine start to 2020 here then.
