Pets Recordings hit their 59th release, handing the reigns to rising star Adam Port who presents a fresh update on '80s synthtronica, mixed with a smattering of gradual peak-time, bottom-heavy house  structure.  

'This Time' is the product of a new and fruitful relationship between Adam and vocalist Jennifer Touch, who grabbed Port's attention with her stand out vocals on the Nightstalker EP on Riotvan. The pair connected and began meeting for off the cuff, un-planned sessions at the Keinemusik studio in Stattbad, with Port bringing his knowledge of the dance-floor, Touch her 80’s'esque new wave sound and influences. "It's a very good flow with her” says Adam. “We're speaking the same music language even when we have a different background". 

 Pets bosses Catz ’n Dogz immediately asked to sign the track after hearing Adam play it out. Full of dark, new wave pop sensibilities and edgy, dance-floor nuance, the original's slow and meandering  electronic drum rhythm – permeated by crisp, mechanical snares, cymbal flashes and a guitar-picked loop with deep bassline and chanting background vocal melodies - make way for Jennifer's haunting vocal delivery while melancholy synths drape the track during it's choral bridge. Adam then progressively notches up in tempo as marching beats help to drive the track towards the dance- floor.  

 

Sei A delivers a punchy, bassy remix - driven by a thick and pounding kick drum at it's core - while radiating, pulsing synth bass slowly melt into range, before a high tempo organ riff heralds a darker, techno leaning excursion into full force peak-time territory before brutalist saw wave bass lines bring the warehouse vibes on the drop. 

 Finally, Port finishes off the release with his own alternate version, focusing on percussion and a deep, ethereal sub bassline and Jennifer's vocals, chopped, spliced and staggered, while the basslines and melodies create subtle shifts in this hypnotic, repetitive techno workout.

The COMPOST ALLSTARS, consisting of Christian Prommer, Roland Appel, Jan Krause from Beanfield and Michael Reinboth, deliver here the official „birthday anthem“ on the occasion of the 20 year label anniversary. 

„Good Day“ is a top-notch impulsively deep tech house track with vocals by Fingers, Inc. – legend singer Robert Owens. The mighty SHOW-B contributed a versatile peak time re-work.

In preparation of the Compost Records jubilee, it became clear pretty fast that there is need for a proper birthday anthem. Therefore Compost head honcho Michael Reinboth and his longtime buddies and label mates Christian Prommer, Roland Appel and Jan Krause locked themselves up in the studio as Compost Allstars, in ordert o create „Good Day“. Robert Owens was flown in to contribute the vocals and a timeless deep house track was born.

The „Good Day“ Original is also part of the digital compilation „V.A. – COMPOST 500“, which comes as download code with the jubilee book „SOUL / LOVE – 20 Years Compost Records“!

Whether you know him as a member of Minilogue, IMPS, Son Kite or as Ooze, there's no denying that Sebastian Mullaert is a man of many talents.

Having been classically trained on just about every musical instrument possible, Mullaert began working with his long-time collaborator Marcus Henriksson back in the early 90s. Now they operate as Minilogue and the minimal techno duo have been producing gold standard electronic music for a long, long time.

Known foremost as Vampire Weekend's bass player, Baio has been filling his desire to form his own individual voice outside of his Grammy-winning band. This September marks Baio's latest self-exploration, with his first full-length solo album out via Glassnote, The Names.

Now, it's prominent producer and Life & Death label founder, DJ Tennis' turn to breathe new life into Baio's established sound. Tennis serves up a techno-focused take on "All the Idiots". For 8.5 minutes, we let Tennis take us on a journey, dominated by inverted chord progressions and squelchy acid sounds, all placed alongside the glitter-like qualities that Tennis' own music is well known for.

As you may have guessed by our extensive coverage of all things Jeudi, we're quite the fans of Doctor Dru's imprint here at Data Transmission, with the outlet quickly becoming one of favourite labels in recent times. For the Hamburg outpost's latest trick, they welcome back Monte, who – you might well recall – impressed upon on the label with a number of releases that arrived to to great fanfare last year and thanks to the glorious sounds of the 'Radical' EP, we’re delighted to announce that the man behind the music has lost none of his nous in the intervening time.

The action gets underway thanks to title track and our choice for premiere, ‘Radical’, a rollicking rollercoaster of a track aimed squarely at peak time dance floors which motors along to give clubbers something to really sink their teeth into. Slickly driven synth lines underpin a sparse yet menacing vocal line full of promise, with the track heaving along as it flexes its production prowess for a cut sure to be finding its way into the sets of house music's more discerning selectors upon release. Backed by a remix from Man Power and frenetic B-side 'Simpler', which jam packed with off kilter energy, is similarly sure to pick up plenty of attention during the small hours in the coming months and add a spine-tingling sense of drama to any set it pervades.

There's not really much else to say about this one. The names dropped in the title alone lets your ears know what they're in store for.

Detroit's Burden brothers, more commonly known as Octave One, have been making classic techno from their roots since 1990 – and, much to our pleasure, have continued to produce, DJ and play sensational live sets as though no time has passed. 25 years on, their music still fuels the dancefloors of 2nd gen. techno lovers, as well as being picked up and reworked by modern dance music's most valuable players –  of which Paul Woolford is most certainly one.

When asked about his "Lose Myself" rework, Paul shared that Octave One and their 430 West label "have been inspirations to me for so many years. We met through mutual friends and immediately connected, following various gigs together globally. It was an honour to be invited to work on something for the Detroit label. My intention was to bring out the soulful edge of Octave One's sound and place it within the framework of a track that would work towards the end of the night."
