This collection consists entirely of live recordings, gleaned from many hundreds of hours spent listening to live concert recordings of the band. A good deal of the songs are 2-track recordings taken from the Dick’s Picks series of releases, although some more hi-fi multi-track recordings, like the hallowed Europe ‘72 version of Morning Dew, are included. n 1997, Membrana became the first sonically appropriate record by the electronic act AUTiSM after a couple of totally obscure and amateur releases. The album was acclaimed by Tangerine Dream’s Christopher Franke via the electronic music competition sponsored by the Soros Foundation in the economically struggling ex-USSR republic of Belarus.
The record left no doubt that AUTiSM represents the biggest electronic act in a country where electronic music was the domain of a relatively small number of young visitors to cheap underground nightclubs.  

On the occasion of 25th anniversary of the album, "Membrana" returned in a form of a full re-master, available for discovery, re-discovery, and nostalgia, depending on how close you are to the history of the band.

This release not only marks an important point in the band's history but remains an enjoyable electronic masterpiece, full of analog and digital synthesis and tons of samples from a variety of sound sources. It showcases not only the masterful sample work of Vadim Militsin but also represents the vibe of the time when new digital technologies finally fell into the hands of mere mortals at computer-based home studios.

Originally heavily involved in the scene in Nantes, France, he has shifted noticeably from the club environment to more ambient spaces. The arresting sonic narrative pulls us unforgivingly into the depths of the subconscious - it is an inexorable descent into an underworld, a beguiling journey through forgotten technocratic wastelands and mutating apparitions. 

Psychosomatic polyphonies spill into the space, an amorphous field of outer-space frequencies. Vocal transmissions dictate the quiet historical drama throughout, marking the cinematic transitions that seep across this fluid backdrop.
