Ukraine’s AIKON meets Sobek in this masterful collaboration. A thumping breakbeat rhythm forms the backbone of this haunting track, where clanking chimes meander amidst shrill, bitcrushed, pitch-bending synth lines. A mystical breakdown lays down mellifluous flute motifs, brooding, buzzing bass and a mosquito of a synth hook that are all smashed into the ether when the pummeling rhythm kicks back into life. Play this loud, close your eyes, and you’ll be transported into another dimension.
Adrian Roman gets brutal on his heavy remix, drafting in huge tribal drum hits that are reminiscent of the Japanese taiko, contrasting their off-kilter rhythm with a solid deep techno backbone and really amping up the atmospheric melodic elements to potent effect. ID_UA takes things deeper on their remix, into more hypnotic territory where bleepy riffs and throbbing bass pummel you into submission, while Buba rounds off the reworks with a slick breaks version with a sci-fi edge that pushes the original into the depths of outer space.

Humans have been simplified to cold Pop soda cans, and romance is dead. Everything is within reach of a coin and a vending machine, poetry illegalized, years of courtships is now a series of one night stands, adventures are reserve for the few in 2999, everything is about Computer Upgrades and one mean machine called Record Bitch and her rival The Runaway Kid will stop at nothing to update their softwares and hardwares whatever it takes and at the expense of anyone. Two loose canons who will kill or get killed. Their tactics they've learned from 'the Diamond Extractors', using their good looks, youth, with, charm and political persuasions to get inside anyone's head. Erase half a century of data, to hack and replace with a new control. And in the city of Dead Rock Tentacles everyone is just mindlessly reaching out, never going anywhere, mindlessly following their codes and their organic mind chips, not knowing the reasons. The apps are triggered and now all them are using fear and terror to get what they want. But some things can't just live in the same place. W.O.M.B. have dispatch all their drones called The Umbilicals to capture all upgrades and bring them back inside the fold, Record Bitch is so one of their leading hunters but The Runaway Kid have a created a new world not controlled by W.O.M.B. and it's growing army of very aggressive recorders that's feeds on vibrations, some purely on good vibrations and the a growing number feeds on the opposite.

We welcome a label debut this June on Toolroom’s Trax imprint from none other than rugby legend, James Haskell, who lands with the brand new, ‘You Need It’ EP.

 While he may be better known as one of England's top rugby players, his presence within the Dance community is ever-expanding. Since his debut releases in 2021 on Defected’s D4 DANCE imprint and his celebrated Backrow Beats compilation series, James has shown a keen interest in production with a whole host of releases lined up on an impressive list of labels in 2022. He is no newcomer behind the decks either, with seven years of DJing under his belt and sets at some of the most notorious venues across the globe including Ministry of Sound, Ibiza Rocks, ME Hotel Ibiza, The Palm Dubai and Soho Farmhouse to name a few. 

The ‘You Need It’ EP offers another two slices of club dynamite with infectious grooves, slick basslines, crunchy percussion, hooky vocals and a high energy throughout! Make sure you turn this one up loud!

Anjunadeep Explorations returns for its 22nd instalment, out June 2. The compilation series, a showcase of fresh talent from the global electronic music scene, has previously paved the way for many much-loved Anjunadeep mainstays over the years including Marsh, Simon Doty, and Luttrell and CRi.

The first track ‘Gemini’s’ is provided by South African artists Karyendasoul & Da Capo. Both are well-established producers in their own right; Kayrendasoul has collaborated with Black Coffee, and Da Capo earned double-platinum status in South Africa for his first album ‘Indigo Child’. The elegant and steady tension of ‘Gemini’s’ has seen the track already championed by label boss James Grant in sets and mixes, making it an impactful way to start this new compilation EP.

Artche is a DJ and producer hailing from Newcastle, whose debut collaboration with Christoph was released on Eric Prydz’s label Pryda Presents, and who recently featured on Anjunadeep star Simon Doty’s album ‘Universal Language’. His offering to Anjunadeep Explorations 22, ‘Bleed’, is a moody breakbeat track showcasing the kinds of atmospheric production prowess that’s seen him earn support from the likes of Pete Tong, Annie Mac and John Digweed.

Jats (ofc) and Kaive, a French duo formally known as ‘The Dualz’, have previously delighted on Anjunadeep with tracks including ‘Your Eyes’ and ‘Inside Me’. Under their fresh alias, the pair deliver a driving and emotive melodic house anthem ‘Hypnotize’.

‘Need You’, the penultimate track on the compilation is provided by Scottish producer and alumnus of Stress Records, James iD. His new offering is a masterclass in breakbeat production and showcases why he has been supported by the likes of Eelke Kleijn and Jody Wisternoff.

Finally, Chinese producer IPeiqi rounds off the release with ‘Redemption’; an emotive deep house cut with a rich chord progression, and a smooth final note on which to close out this Explorations EP.

"VERS/US" is an unfinished demo from "The Uncanny Valley" writing sessions. As the album writing came to a close, Perturbator realized this song didn't quite fit in with the themes of the main album. The song was left in a more 'rough-stage' and was included in the bonus EP to give a sense of what Perturbator's writing process is like.
