Am Montag, den 29. September 2014, veröffentlicht Solvane seine neue EP. Die Zusammenstellung “Run” erscheint auf dem Label Kallias Music und umfasst zwei Tracks. Der Berliner Produzent sprach mit uns über die beiden Werke “Run on the House” sowie “Beside” und erzählt, wie und wo die Nummern produziert wurden.

trndmusik: Solvane, wodurch hast Du Dich für die EP “Run” inspirieren lassen?

Solvane: Ich mache schon mein Leben lang Musik und bin seit ca. zehn Jahren voll der elektronische Musik verfallen. Auch hier habe ich nun schon verschiedenen Genres durchwandert. In den letzten beiden Jahren war es dann House, der mich nach einigen Jahren Pause wieder in seinen Bann gezogen hat. Und im House-Bereich wiederum hatte ich dann Lust, etwas jenseits des Einheitsbreis zu machen, da doch viele Veröffentlichungen sehr ähnlich klingen.

CLAPTONE UNVEILS NEW SINGLE ‘DEAR LIFE’
 
The man with the golden scooped beak rises again with ‘Dear Life’ the first single from his debut album, coming later this year.

Dear Life is the next chapter for Claptone taken from his first full length which is set to drop in Autumn 2015. The mysterious enigma with the golden mask has gone from strength to strength of late, following an acclaimed BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, a Beatport chart-topping smash remix for Gregory Porter and an incredible live show at the Miami Ultra Music Festival.
 
The single however breaks new ground for Claptone as he delves deeper into songwriting. This time he is reunited with French singer Jaw (1/3 of production trio dOP) with whom he worked on ’No Eyes’ which went on to became a big record back in 2013 on Exploited. In new offering ‘Dear Life’ they've created a spellbinding track which sounds as good on your stereo at home as it does on the dancefloor.

The masked figure recently shared teaser 'The Music Got Me', the first glimpse of the album and a track which went on to reach the top 5 on Beatport’s deep house chart, as did B-side Forest of Love. For the club heads, Claptone and Jaw deliver a second cut ‘Secret Lover’, a track which is packed with raw funk for your dance floors and a highlight in his recent Essential Mix.

In the Beginning

Italy’s fastest rising name in house and techno returns to the respected Drumcode imprint with this blistering new 4-track EP, ‘Climax’. Featuring a distinctive vocal sample crescending over a typically thumping bassline, opening lead track ‘Climax’ grows gradually with the introduction of a single synth note and skipping hi-hats. Two beatless breakdowns increase the pressure whilst a new synth melody is introduced in the second, making for a powerful ending as all the elements join together.

‘Boost’ starts out deep and dark, with a high-pitched call echoing over a determined beat. The track changes course mid-way through with the introduction of a bassy, low-pitched synth melody, helping ‘Boost’ evolve into a catchier, more playful track.

‘Spectre’, a no-nonsense closing piece featuring a jittering synth note, rattling hi-hats and a trademark tension-filled breakdown.

‘Over The Clouds’, as its name would suggest, is the gentlest of the four tracks. Filled with dusty textures over a rumbling bassline, twinkling synths move in waves before lower-pitched chords join, adding a real sense of depth to this production.

Overall, ‘Climax’ is an outstanding example of Faraone’s ear for detail as a producer: his experience as both a resident and touring DJ clearly feeds into his skill for manipulating tension in his productions like he does on the dancefloors. Having recently warmed up for Adam Beyer at Tenax, Marco Faraone’s relationship with the iconic label continues to grow.

Butch’s newest offering ‘Retechno 2’ is a bass-heavy, dark, two track techno delight. The kick drums are intense, the samples interesting and the synths apparent – Butch’s quirky style of production can be heard throughout. Magnetic, holding a futurist edge with it’s spaceship sounds, cuts a deep groove with eager crescendos and heavy drops. Antimatter is packed with energy, a driving bass line and fierce drops. Butch’s productions are raw, powerful and robust - a release not for the faint hearted.

Adam Beyer’s Drumcode juggernaut attracts more fans and critical plaudits with each passing year. Holding firm on its future facing ethos, techno’s number one label presents a new volume in its acclaimed A-Sides series with 20 prime tracks to signify its 20th anniversary. 

Such is the volume of quality music Adam Beyer receives throughout the course of the year, releasing all of it would be impossible. Enter the blue chip A-Sides series: a chance for the quality-obsessive label head to issue a collection of outstanding tracks that couldn’t fit in their regular EP release schedule. 

With an eye on future talent, as much as the label’s established roster of heavy-hitters, the compilation showcases the full breadth of Drumcode’s multifaceted techno sound, equal parts inspiring and functional.
 
Led by the stealth techno funk of ‘Nine of You’, Beyer’s deft collaboration with Mark Reeve, the compilation takes in exciting highlights from big guns such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Dustin Zahn, Bart Skils, Pleasurekraft, Luca Agnelli, Jay Lumen, Kaiserdisco and Gary Beck. 

The rich vein of form displayed by emerging techno talent is similarly given prime position. Rising DJ/producer Boxia makes his Drumcode debut, fresh from a well-received warm up set for the crew at the hugely successful Junction 2 festival in London, while the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Juan Sanchez, Ian O’Donovan and Timmo also drop fire, establishing their credentials as some of the most promising talent breaking through the ranks in 2016. 

Reinforcing the global scope of the label, artists such as The Junkies from Toronto and Layton Giordani from New York, prove techno is winning a place in the heart of the new generation of artists coming out of North America.

Throughout 2017, the three-part ‘Charmer Remixed’ project has seen tracks from Claptone’s debut album reworked; a collection of remixes which close the curtain on the ‘Charmer’ chapter but leave us all wanting more and anticipating what he has planned for us next.

The final EP in the series features three peak-time cuts, including a typically powerful weapon from the UK tech-house luminary Darius Syrossian, a classy remix from hotly-tipped Berlin producer Emmanuel Satie and finally a deep and dark interpretation from DFA mainstay Shit Robot.

Part 3 concludes a project which has also seen reworks from Justin Martin, Timo Maas, Format:B, Raumakustik and Superlover.
