Shir Khan’s Exploited Recordings has always stood out as a label with serious ambitions. From the consistent quality of its prolific output to its early championing of many a dance music star to its diverse array of sounds, it has felt like a highly accomplished offering even since its earliest days. Now one of house music’s biggest labels, it has come a long way since its humble beginnings in Berlin. Dancing & Romancing gives a snapshot of the imprint’s last five years, charting its story from contender to heavyweight in stunning fashion.
Dancing & Romancing showcases some of the label’s high points from the last half decade, attempting to provide a summary of what Exploited is all about. From resolute club bangers to tracks that sound as good on your home stereo as they do on the dancefloor, it’s a compilation that reminds us that dance music is no longer simply the preserve of the clubs but something bigger and further-reaching than it’s ever been.
From nu disco to acid to melodic techno to fist-pumping house, the breadth of the label’s output is neatly encapsulated in these 30 enduring tracks. Released as a double CD and triple vinyl (including label classics appearing for the first time on wax) as well as in a deluxe box set edition, Dancing & Romancing is out on September 23rd.

The somewhat nomadic Matt Karmil has been producing and DJing under many aliases and in many forms for years, but this year he looks set to emerge as one of the UK finest talents already receiving support form the likes of Axel Boman and Kompakt Records.

March sees Matt release his first EP of the year ‘So You Say (Dirty Tape Heads Mix) / Wheel’ on Tim Sweeney’s brilliant imprint Beats in Space. We first heard So You Say back in August during Tim Sweeny’s set at Flow Festival in Helsinki, Its a sweeping disco number that transforms into acid house heaven with a euphoric 303 bassline and hypnotic groove throughout, a true gem in every sense.

Released on limited edition 12” on March 18 and on various digital formats on April 1

May 2014 we released Of Norway's debut album  “Accretion“, a musical journey which showcased the Norwegian duo's creativity and ability to create music on the border between songwriting and club music. “Spirit Lights“ was one of the highlights of the album and will be now the kick-off for the „Accretion“ remix series. The original is a long and hypnotizing deep-house jam in the vein of Atjazz or Charles Webster. A true beauty, ennobled for example by Ten Walls by including it in his mind blowing BBC One Essential Mix last summer. “Spirit Lights” was co-written and completed with the amazing lyrics and vocals of Linnea Dale, well known in Norway for her collaboration with the band Donkeyboy and the resulting two No 1 single charts positions of the titles „Ambitions“ and „Somedays“. Furthermore in 2014 she was the representative act for her country at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Italy's up and coming Lehar, who bestowed upon us his “Sargas EP” one of our most successful releases in 2014, created such a mystical and alluring tune with his interpretation, that it quickly ended up as regular in the sets of Mano Le Tough and Adriatique, just to name a few. This created such a buzz, that his remix has already reached No 13 of the last Groove Mag 50 charts, without having started any promo yet. Things can't get more promising.

Due to Adriatique's massive support, it was obvious for us to ask the Diynamic act to do the second remix. As was to be expected, the two Swiss also had a lucky hand at the remix and turned the original into a true beauty, a version literally begging for summer and beach. A true open-air guarantor.

From resolute club bangers to tracks that sound as good on your home stereo as they do on the dancefloor, it’s a compilation that reminds us that dance music is no longer simply the preserve of the clubs but something bigger and further-reaching than it’s ever been.
From nu disco to acid to melodic techno to fist-pumping house, the breadth of the label’s output is neatly encapsulated in these 30 enduring tracks. Released as a double CD and triple vinyl (including label classics appearing for the first time on wax) as well as in a deluxe box set edition, Dancing & Romancing is out on September 23rd.
