On June 30th, 2014, German music duo Rey & Kjavik will bring their new EP into stores: "Prototype". Until recently the public didn't even know the band members behind their alias. Their name draws attention to the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, and that happens for a reason. Both music producers want their music to speak for itself instead of faces or tattoos. They gave us an interview to talk about why they want their identity to be kept secret, about their new release (stream premiere by trndmusik) and Rey & Kjavik Records.

trndmusik: Why do you want your identity to be kept secret?

Rey & Kjavik: It's all about our music. We believe that music can stand for itself and always finds its audience. Neither one guy, nor the background story, nor tattoos, nor leather jackets should distract the listener from what's really important. We produce music, you either feel it or leave it. That's the way it should be.

Rey & Kjavik: Bei uns ging es von Anfang an nur um die Musik. Wir glauben, dass Musik für sich alleine spricht und immer sein Publikum findet. Dabei sollte weder ein Typ, eine Vorgeschichte, Tattoos oder Lederjacken die Hörer vom Wesentlichen ablenken. Wir produzieren Musik, du fühlst sie oder lässt es bleiben. Genau so soll es nach unserer Auffassung sein.

Róisín Murphy - Evil Eyes (Claptone Remix)

Flush is a new project I started in order to release all edits and reworks I do on planes and in airport lounges. It will be focused on House Music from the early days. Often sample-based but not always, it's a mixture of Chicago House and French Touch a la Crydamoure. Initially the plan was to just put these out on the internet, but the people at Strictly Rhythm thought the first song “Come Back Baby" was good enough to release.
