The wunderkind Oby Nine is no stranger to Amsterdam based INI Movement. As a label fixture, he contributed to Vuelo Nocturno Remixes EP and was featured on De Gulden Snede I. He now returns aiming for the brain with his own remix EP in hand. Oby’s latest musical project is an aural inquiry into the pleasure-inducing chemical, serotonin, which lends its name to this EP. The Serotonin Remix EP is a collection of Oby’s Serotonin single and various remixes.

The EP is a collaborative endeavour between Oby and five phenomenal Dutch producers. On Serotonin, we witness Oby Nine, Jarreau Vandal, Umoja, Moiety, Moods and Esteble all flexing their production chops. Each producer offers his own interpretation of Serotonin, by way of structural and melodic re-arrangements. Radiating from the eclectic re-interpretations, Serotonin Remix EP takes on the air of cohesive divergence.  The EP’s overall sound is solid and consistent, whilst sounds of individual tracks are deviations from one another. The heterogeneous styles of contributing producers induce a sense of musical adventure. A sensory trip, where the listener hears, feels and envisages familiar sensory patterns albeit each pattern being quiet unfamiliar.  As Oby Nine puts it “my idea for this EP is to create something that can help release serotonin in the brain of listeners”, that’s exactly what this EP has achieved.

Oby’s remix EP charts through UK garage, house, Brazilian bossa, groovy bass and crispy beats.  The elusive novelty realized by Serotonin Remix EP is its holistic sound. The manner by which it moulds various distinctive sounds into one “feel good” expedition. An expedition of the mind as variations of serotonin is released into the brain. 

Serotonin Remix EP is INI Movement’s 15th release out on all major online music platforms as of 20th January 2014.
