We continue our exploration of VOL I, the debut compilation from 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀, a label using underground electronic music as a vehicle for solidarity. This powerful 33-track release unites artists from across the globe in support of families displaced by war in Lebanon, with 100% of proceeds going directly to Beirut Synth Center, who offer hands-on relief on the ground.

Today’s premiere features 𝗩𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘀, one of the most active names in the French electronic scene and one of its most prolific voices. Known for his fluid blend of classic house textures and rave era energy, he brings a slightly different shade to the compilation with "𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵", a track that leans into the deeper ends of his sound palette. 

A slow burning groove forms the backbone, layered with dubby stabs and subtly warped pads. While there’s a hint of brightness in the synth work, the track leans into shadowy tones evoking a kind of hypnotic rush that draws the listener inward, but still dancefloor focused, suitable when energy shifts and attention sharpens.

Vitess ─ Not All About [Intifada Rec]

Toronto/Berlin producer and Big Trouble Records founder @andrezimmermusic has emerged as one of house and techno’s hottest commodities, fresh off his scorching fabric Records release with Carlita. Now he joins DJ Tennis’s Life and Death label with the announcement of his 4-track Kwon Anthem EP, out September 19.

Arriving alongside the announcement is the lead single “Hypnotizing” — a piano-driven, ethereal cut that highlights Zimmer’s ability to channel rave nostalgia into shimmering, emotive house designed for peak dance floor moments.

The EP also features the standout track “That’s Right,” which has already been making waves across clubs worldwide. With early support from Peggy Gou, Dam Swindle, Massimilliano Pagliara, Alinka, Jorkes, Luigi Di Venere, and more — including rotations at Panorama Bar and viral fan videos from Peggy Gou, Bella and beyond — it’s quickly becoming one of Zimmer’s most in-demand productions.

Across Kwon Anthem EP, Zimmer balances hypnotic, orchestral breakdowns, progressive trance textures built from Roland SRX patches (“Kwon’s Anthem”), and a cosmic, downtempo detour structured around a 707 jam (“Hours”). It’s his most ambitious and wide-ranging statement yet — and a fitting debut on Life and Death.

Sarah Wild’s Afterglow taps into a history of piano-led rave euphoria without leaning on nostalgia, nodding to blurry heads-down memories while keeping the arrangement lean and the sentiment fresh.

A regular at the illustrious Sisyphos in Berlin and with releases on Watergate, Get Physical and Acid Pauli’s Flying Lizard, ED ED crafts a potent techno sound that has many fans far and wide across the globe. He delivers two slow-building bombs here for Exploited Ghetto that will only serve to further his already excellent reputation. 

A modulating, acidic bass arpeggio bores its way through a punchy kick on ‘Sirens Of Walhalla’, oscillating and undulating hypnotically. Shuffling hi-hats rub up against each other, creating a metallic friction. Flashes of dreamy synth melody flit in and out. A rapid succession of notes form a hazy, fizzing melody, awash with reverb as the track builds and moodier tones swell. An extra off-beat hi-hat picks up the pace and a tribal tom pattern adds weight. Harking back to the days of dark, early trance but with a much chuggier tempo, it’s a sublime piece of work.

‘Spiliar’ loops a descending scale motif around more chunky tom rhythms and light shakers, with this lead refrain plunging in and out of the darkness teasingly. Ethereal pads loom dramatically as the percussion builds with cymbal rides. A rousing climax yields commanding Moog bass and dizzying chimes bolstering the main refrain which now ascends into a higher plain. A tense track that will work the biggest of dancefloors.
