He has been collaborating with Filip from Daytime Discoact Poolside from LA as well as Chicago Legend DJ Deeon while scoring and supervising movie soundtracks. His music has been remixed by The Black Madonna, Lee Foss and Felix Da Housecat in the past.
James Curd's new record comes with a remix from Red Rack'em whose tune 'Wonky Bassline Disco Banger' was Juno's biggest selling house record and was played out by a long list of leading DJs as it has been decimating dancefloors all over the world since its release last year. 
If you like your grooves funk-fuelled and analog, then look no further than James Curd’s rather glorious triple track EP.

James Curd about his new record:
"One night while I was working in my new studio I got a little home sick because a fest that takes place down the street from my building was going on back home in Chicago. Derrick was playing and I grabbed some of the audio from the end of his set of him talking to the crowd and dropped it into 'I Get Up". "Disco Fool" was one of the only songs I made in a studio I built with an SSL desk before realizing a studio under a club was a terrible idea."

Mixmag: With an impressive back catalogue on Classic, DFA, Permanent Vacation, and his Greenskeepers project, James Curd could not be accused of being lazy. ‘I Get Up (TO DC)’ has a vintage analogue synth, elastic bass, liquid modulating acid, electronic styling’s and sliced vocals. As good as the original is this has been handed to Red Rack’Em to remix and he doesn’t have to stray too far from the original. ‘Disco Fool’ has a walking bass line and an undeniable disco feel with key bursts, smooth pad, freestyle organ, plus chat from Derrick Carter talking to the crowd that Curd sneaked in!

Belgian talent Compuphonic has long since demonstrated a serious knack for melodic sophistication, and this new EP for Exploited elevates those lush sounds to some stunning new levels.

Metropolis is a breezy slice of electronica, detached from the dancefloor whilst still taking some inspiration from it. A dreamy female vocal glistens over fuzzy pads in the intro before muted electric piano chords and the kick join in tandem. Heavenly vocal harmonies glide in the background alongside subtle chime tones, with a filtered down synth arp adding yet another dash of sweetness. The various elements slide and mesh against each other effortlessly, with sprinkles of subtle FX lifting the track in just the right places.

Slow Bilbao is more in the chunky deep house vein, hazy tuned percussion samples drenched in pleasing swathes of noise distortion hit in time with thumping kicks and thick bass tones. A melody unfolds in the higher registers from the xylophone-esque resampled instrument, recalling Bonobo at his best as a shuffling percussive groove develops. The samples bring an exotic tone to the track, with the contrasts between the deeper and more pumping sections an intensely satisfying one.

Metropolis

Compuphonic - Slow Bilbao | Exploited

Berliner-based electronica live act GHEIST put forth two attention-grabbing tracks in their third release for Exploited, enlisting the aid of fellow producer and singer-songwriter Bayker on vocals.

Eponymous track Salvation kicks off proceedings, showcasing a deep tech exploration with late night dancefloor appeal. The original exposes a gradually unfolding piece, boasting a clean cut rhythm section and a methodical, straightforward structure centered around minor chords. 
Last Night In Paris reveals a dark brooding arrangement, as reflective vocals add a layer of mystery to the foundation of pensive pads and warped synths. What ensues is a contemplative atmosphere, that is mesmerizing as it is dance-inducing. 
Venlo is a nice last minute bonus addition strictly aimed for the dancefloor. 

GHEIST kickstarted their young career last year and since then have grabbed attention from DJs and Media all over the place which led into a busy touring schedule including upcoming gigs at Razzmatazz Barcelona, Watergate Berlin, Sonne Mond Sterne Festival and many more club and festival appearances.
Very strong beginning for one of our new acts on the label Exploited.

GHEIST - Last Night In Paris | Exploited

We are delighted to welcome Patlac to the Moodmusic family with his Rodeon EP. 

The journey for him in the world of electronic music began at an early age. After taking the first curious steps as a DJ, he soon realised that the emotional landscape of the Dancefloor was a place of mutual listening and sharing

Besides his own releases Patlac on labels like Connaisseur Recordings,Liebe*detail and Pets Recordings has earned respect as a Remixer. His remixes for Endless, liebe*detail, Musik Gewinnt Freunde,Noir and several others.

Starting with Auroa, Patlac sprinkles some stardust on the dance floor with a syncopated beat and majorly uplifting synth work. Auroa has been roadtested the last few months to great success. 

The title track Rodeon takes a housier road, stripping things to basics but retaining a strong fundament in the bass department.

Clint ends the EP with impressive beauty, a Detroit inspired affair for the late hours, this shows the most mature work of Patlac to date.
