‘Techno three ways’ is the order of the day from Irish newcomer Richie Corrigan and his accomplice Jacob B, twisting the genre in a trio of directions like a Michelin starred menu might reinterpret a humble ingredient. As a DJ, Corrigan has supported Dave Clarke, running his Purgatory events alongside the label of the same name and releasing elsewhere on Concrete Berlin, Underground Records and Complexed Records.

‘Paradise’ thumps along at a clip, classic stabs manically cutting against off-beat bass whomps and tuned percussion melodies, hi-hats stuttering all the while. Snatches of East Asian melody waft in and out of focus and the melodic progression of the bassline adds a gently euphoric edge to this propulsive track.

‘Get Up’ heads into tribal techno territory, all juddering low end and menacingly toned percussive hits. Pulsing FX and evolving rhythmic structures keep the intrigue levels high as this juggernaut of a track presses on, full steam ahead.

‘Lagoon’ rounds off this well-balanced EP with a more housey take on techno, where filtered disco loops circulate under percolating percussive rhythms. Snatches of bright strings and powerful vocal refrains punctuate while the funk-fuelled bass slams hard. A piano twinkles somewhere in the distance as the layers of the track ebb and flow into each other in mesmerising fashion.

Our 24th label release has been in preparation and languishing for a long time, like aged dry wine in a French castle cellar, a French bouquet of young talents from Awlies & Véronique Samsung on their original Spot The Difference EP!

Awlies, hidden in his Parisian studio in the middle of his tower of analog instruments, between a mpc and a cassette recorder, wants to produce a music without rules.
A bit nostalgic, he naively seeks to find the electronic music of yesteryear based on contemporary melodic structures.
His part on the EP remains a plan without a projected artistic direction, like a bottle in the sea. Here, Awlies wanted to try deep-house, he tried.

This experimental release is a dynamic and hypnotic journey where the languid and experimental sound of Awlies replaces the expressive and driving versions of the duo Véronique Samsung.
Individually, Véronique Samsung is a living duo,
born after a decade of collaboration between Clement Cosse and Tom Nomine, in 2019 in Nantes (France). The project has recently been marked by several great experimental releases and their virtuoso live show with drum machines, synthesizers and guitar, which showed their professionalism, seriousness of intentions and noticeable recognition.

Loskatt is the new talent onboard, hailing from Santiago de Chile this young and promising
producer delivers three exercises of contemporary techno aimed directly for the dancefloor.
On the first cut Hard To Become, the groove goes frenetic at a high BPM rate. A solid
percussive basement combines with repetitive bleeps and reverberated landscapes creating
a compact feel.
Surgery goes next, slowing down the tempos, going more electric on the melodic sound
palette and sounding somewhat old school in an atemporal exercise of cutting edge techno.
Last track Keen is a complete twist in style, going into trance territories, with lots of epic
synths in different layers providing again a nice old school nineties techno feeling but
according to modern rhythmic standards.
A promising talent to keep your eyes on for future releases.
