One of the brand-new tracks taken from James Curd mostly-retrospective debut album ‘Taking All This Time’, ‘1000 Years’ arrives to transport you into a warm summer haze and give another taste of this stunning record.
‘1000 Years’ is another exemplary Curd-cut, a melodic deep house beauty laced with a dulcet vocal from newcomer Natasha Lillith. Led by soulful, pulsing electric piano chords and a warm bassline, the groove has a little Brazilian feel to it, only heightened by summery guitar licks applied in just the right moments. Lillith's soft vocal tones are the perfect accompaniment for this balmy groove, transporting you instantly to a warm beach with sand between your toes.
French producer Kendal (Dischi Autunno/Ritmo Fatale) goes for a future garage vibe on his remix, where brooding synths soar atop peppy, pacey 2-step beats. Phunkadelica (Multinotes | Correspondant | Permanent Vacation | Innervisions | Engrave LTD), by contrast, opt for an Italo disco direction with an epic piano breakdown.

German Tedesco - Lazos Invisibles

holyklang welcome A_GIM as he delivers his latest EP ‘Runfunk’, backed by remixes from Michael Klein, MANOID, Szymon Weiss and Vidno. 

Opening with the title cut, ‘Runfunk’ welcomes a medley of captivating and powerful soundscapes, whilst ‘Lusinea’ combines warping melodies, crunchy atmospheres and resonant leads for a hypnotic journey through sounds. Michael Klein’s remix welcomes the first of four interpretations of ‘Runfunk’ as he hones in on an entrancing core drum groove and serene background sonics for an impactful offering. 

Next, MANOID ups the energy as tough metallic kicks and intense synths come to the fore, while Szymon Weiss’ take leans towards the groovier end of the spectrum as he utilises the original’s escalating leads to deliver a production packed full of drive. To close, Vidno’s remix pairs things back as the focus shifts towards expansive atmospheres, slow-blooming melodies and suspenseful breaks.

Versatile Rotterdam based producer Aiden enters 90watts with his awesome Butter Chicken Blues EP where he shows his more housey side. House music, but still with Aiden’s trademark timeless analogue feel. Three strong and powerful originals accompanied by an awesome uplifting remix by the Polar (NL) duo who return to 90watts after some time of absence. This EP is essential for those who want to dig a bit deeper and look past conceptually produced electronic music. Go Aiden!

Taken from the upcoming album 'All Else Fails' from Athens producer @stelios-vassiloudis, ‘End Transmission’ was the first on the album to be completed. While isolating in his studio during the pandemic, Vassiloudis encountered a 64-bar loop of ambient drones and harmonic washes while exploring mountains of previously unreleased projects, in search of something different.  

While what he found felt 'generic' on face value, Vassiloudis made deliberate adjustments to time signatures and the phrasing of his patterns, embracing the magical unpredictability of recording live instruments. The result is rapturous and immersive soundscape, brimming with a light sense of optimism and bursting with the colours of finding beauty in the ordinary.

Italian stallion FreakMe is back on Exploited Ghetto following previous gem ‘Precious’, and continues in a similar Italo-influenced vibe with the mighty ‘Loaded Gun’ — which comes in two delicious versions.
First up, the ‘2AmMix’ springs into life with its bouncing, double-time, on-beat bassline leading the charge amidst a rich collection of gentle synth sounds. The cool, mysterious pop vocal perfectly matches the ‘80s feel of the beats and melodies, with big gated snares reinforcing the theme. The arrangement pares back, and a tense breakdown follows where the vocal really shines, the bassline dropping out momentarily and slamming back in with renewed urgency as the vocal phrase delays echo away in ghostly fashion. It’s electro pop reimagined for the house/tech dancefloor, and it’s a seriously classy concoction.
The ‘6AmMix’? Think afterparty chillout time, taking a breather as the sun comes up over a golden beach and glittering sea. The tempo is cut in half to a languid stumble, a relaxed heartbeat of a kick drum underpinning the dazzling synths and beautiful vocal. The bassline is replaced with a slower, more sustained pulse, allowing for a much more spacious feel. The Balearic feel is completed with soaring synth-strings and sorrowful chords, making for a beautifully epic, angelic slice of downtempo music that is the perfect compliment to the original.
