Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is back with another star-packed release &ndash; this time from discObeta, who has teamed up with some heavy hitters on the remix front for a funky slice of hip-hop breaks.discObeta has served up 2 epic funk fused originals and call on Fort Knox Five, Ross Go, Mined &amp; Forrest, BadboE &amp; Pecoe to get busy on some remixes.
Starting off with the title tune Down The Block which showcases discObeta&rsquo;s low-slung funky sounds with some well picked classic vocal hooks and smooth electro basslines. Fort Knox Five is coming in hot on the remix of Down The Block with an upbeat dancefloor twist to the original. They get the absolute best out of the vocal hooks while making it their own on by infusing their classic funky Fort Knox Five vibes that they are known and loved for. Ross Go is getting busy while diving into the classic goldmine of samples and serves up a fun and upbeat alternative to the original.
On the flip side we dive into some serious street vibes and big flows on the Yoobie Doo joint. Copycow is thrilled to welcome Manu Ferrantini from Paris, Lisbon, Goa with his new EP. He presents his definition of minimal pleasure featuring Jonny K and remixes by cow-doctor Breger and by debut-cow Calm Chor from India. The 3 original tracks show no mercy when it's about creative beats and slick ear worms. The title track'Bonheur Stoner vs Jonny K' let you finally discover the genre Minimetal: driving guitar melodies and smashing grooves meet 2 rockers in the techno studio. While the 'Lost Love Cowboy' exploits Manu's own guitar play to perform a true romance, 'Konfys' features grumpy vocals by Kenny Berggren from Sweden. He did lose his socks and none of us found them. If anybody finds Kenny’s socks, please let us know. Breger and Calm Chor worked on their own confusing interpretations, they went from minimal pressure to sci-fi tales and definitely went deep inside, but could not find the socks either.

James Curd is set to release his debut album ‘Taking All This Time’ on Exploited, rounding up some of his biggest productions to date alongside a clutch of new productions. Featuring a slew of vocalists and collaborators and his distinctive combination of live instrumentation and electronic grooves, it’s a beautiful collection, and ‘Say Less Not More’ is one of the feisty new tracks plucked from it.
‘Say Less Not More’ sees Curd team up with Chicago DJ, producer and vocalist Bear Who? in fine style, with the vocal message perfectly matching the uncluttered arrangement. A pumping analog bassline jacks the track up as Bear Who?’s commanding spoken word vocal sets the tone. Muted chords accentuate the bassline further before the arrangement strips back to bare bones. A gurgling acid line builds the drama as the percussion gently technofies, the 303 rubbing up against the phat bassline in perfect undulating harmony. With plenty of chunky low end energy, a snappy groove and Bear Who? lacing the track with his laconic yet engrossing tones, it’s a beast of a track.

Stefano Ritteri (Spaciale) gives the track a disco injection with tight, head-snapping beats, oodles of bassline funk and shimmering synth magic, while Theus Mago (Futureboogie) zeroes in on the acid content, gurgling 303s oscillating over stuttering bass throbs and swaggering half-time breakbeat to chilling effect.
