Our beloved house producer, Hemi, arrives on Duro with 'Whispers'. He's been around for some time operating from Istanbul, Turkey, both as a DJ, producer, promoter or film-maker. To follow the single we invited the mind behind Frank Music label, Johannes Albert. German DJ & producer resident from the notorious Berlin party hotspot Renate.

The opener is the original version, a cut fueled by forceful drums, a power-driven sinewy bass, mixed with a barrage of resonant percussions, a deep piano riff, and a contrast of distant, spectral vocals alongside wacky synthesizers. 

On the b side we have the remix made by Johannes Albert, a solid, electrifying and ethereal track. Dynamic drums accompanied by a shocker bass, liquid and centrifugal synthesizers and undulating pianos, a lightning bolt to the dance floor.

UK producer Louis De Tomaso pushes a vibrant retro sound that’s laced with euphoric intention and has received support from the likes of Krystal Klear, Jennifer Cardini, Kendal, Pablo Bozzi, Tiger and Woods, Perel and Cormac. He comes up trumps here with two new tracks for the well-reputed Exploited imprint.

Channeling classic Eurodance and Italo, ‘Malfunction’ is a riot of a track that’s brimming with strong melodies and motifs. Within seconds you’re assaulted by an array of potent lines weaving away under ticking hi-hats and roomy snare hits, swelling to a tremendous intensity before the undulating bassline rocks in. Big arpeggios, fizzing chords, soaring leads and dramatic riffs abound, with never a dull moment in this super-colourful track. All is woven together seamlessly, erupting like a volcano as the melodies transpose to higher octaves as the track progresses. Any one of these riffs would be strong enough to be the lead refrain on any given track. Louis De Tomaso’s generous spirit instead packs them all into a huge 5 minutes and 40 seconds.

‘Prince’, a track that lay unfinished for nearly 5 years, is more on the hi-NRG tip. Given a new lick of paint by De Tomaso, it’s driven by a camp, sugary lead riff that bursts through the mix like a buzzsaw. Chugging bass arpeggios provide more forward-thrust as the spacious beats hammer away and classic ravey synth sounds hammer out a delightful selection of colourful hooks. A huge build where pitch risers meet rapid-fire claps sends the track rocketing into the ether, exploding in a rainbow of colour. Fun levels are maxxed out on this one.

French artist Back From The Wave joins Roam Recordings with two original hypnotic burners. 
The EP starts with Brothers which builds with lush pads and gritty synthwork. Mother’s Mind takes a more reflective approach and continues to build the trance inducing journey of the EP.
The EP is backed by remixes from French compatriot Endrik Schroeder and Roam alumni Rigopolar. Endrik Schroeder is up first with his dreamy and melodic take on Brothers. Rigopolar rounds out the EP with a laid back version of Mother’s Mind with beautiful vocoder work accentuating the mellow vibes.

It's time to get the smoke machines & glitter balls out as Pentland Park bring the heat with their Maître de Sagesse EP for the 8th release on Lava Lava.  The duo have been a mainstay in the Scottish underground scene for many years, gaining a reputation for their eclectic DJ sets and recently clocked up acclaimed releases on Brand New, CB90 Dance Recordings & Everything Will Be OK.  Their latest EP is a foray into classic Italo and Disco sounds accompanied by a sensational remix from Somethin' Sanctified.

Leading the EP, title track Maître de Sagesse takes you straight onto the dance floor with skipping drums, hazy vocals and a sub-heavy plucked basbline.  Hand claps, rattles, guitar licks and fluttering synths inject classic Disco elements into this infectious groove.

On the B side Enterprise is a nod to classic Italo sounds whilst remaining firmly rooted in modern club culture.  An effortlessly cool track where rolling hi-hats, arpeggiated bass and retro snare hits bounce alongside soft synthesisers and sharp pads.

Somethin' Sanctified bring their signature sound with an irresistible analogue take on Maître de Sagesse laid out across 7 minutes.  Crisp percussion, echoing vocals and bright synths lead playfully through the track to a gorgeous breakdown. Resonating low-end bass and four-four grooves bring a classic House flavour to their interpretation.

Beguiling Parisian fashionistas O.N.O. return to Exploited following their splendid debut ‘Modern Dance’ with more surefire party-starters with a retro lean.
‘The American’ is an out-and-out Italo disco romp featuring French synth wizards Jabberwocky. A twanging sequence motion bubbles away in the intro over rolling conga rhythms and flashes of the shuddering lead riff. Super ‘80s electro-bass pumps into life as the kicks hit and the wild lead starts hammering out its rapid-fire pattern. An infectious counter-melody plays out in call-and-answer fashion as chattering claps punctuate. Finally the full melody plays out as the bassline and synths unite in fist-pumping, feel-good fashion. A simple, cutesy riff is added into the mix, and made heady through building delays as we push towards the breakdown. Isolating the lead riff, they then build the tension before slamming us back into the meat of the track. It’s an absolutely huge track which overflows with sweet euphoria.

Panthera Krause strips things back on his tense remix, opting for thick rolling bass and a more succinct percussive section. With the descending bass groove combined with gently snarling synths and moments of subtle wonkiness, it makes for a somewhat darker yet no less irresistible version. 

‘Dabajo’ sees them drop tempo to a chuggy roll, with more mesmerising hooks and dazzling synths. Swooping strings cut against rippling 8-bit arpeggios and chugging bass melodies. Snappy beats underpin the colourful affair perfectly, the myriad synth melodies and motifs synergising in powerful, spine-tingling fashion. The dramatic mid section and its chromatic melodies recall some of Daft Punk’s most cinematic moments.
