Shine up a quarter, the Black Jukebox is back! Shir Khan presents a quartet of disco house killers on the fifteenth edition of this floor pleasing, ass teasing series. Taking the controls for the A-side are Glasgow duo Illyus & Barrientos, who slap us with a pair of sleazy strollers primed for the peak time. Armed with the finest rolling bassline you're likely to hear this year, "Camel Brother" kicks the EP off in fine style, taking a groove+vocal sample approach reminiscent to Oliver $'s "Doin' Ya Thing", but with a little extra pizzazz and fx use. Things kick up a little bit for "Just Bad Shit", a fist pumping disco house bomb complete with thick, throbbing bass, tight and toppy guitar licks and mind melding spoken vocals. It's one of those cuts which keeps on giving, building to 'huge tune' status as the searing strings and crowd noise flood the frequencies. Over on the flip, Purple Disco Machine (me neither) teams up with synth wizard Lorenz Rhodes, who takes a break from tour duties with Jamie Lidell and Detroit Swindle to bring his intergalactic synth skills to "Birds". A far out fusion of classic house keys, Blaxploitation guitars and samba influences, this jam should do serious damage on the sweatier floors this summer, especially when the breakdown rolls into town. Dayne S takes the controls for the B2, bringing down the curtain with heart lifting sounds of "In The Streets". Walking the tightrope between thwacking beats and gentle melody, Dayne drops intricate soul guitar over wall shaking percussion before taking a keyboard for a walk in the latter stages.Do yourself a favor and pick it up before this limited collector’s item sells out.
