Dinky delves further into her Chilean roots while softly embedding the rhythm of the night with next single ‘Blind’ from the album ‘Dimension D’.  Inspired by old Jazz of the 30s and 40s, Dinky weaves a beguiling story with the acoustic swing imbued with her own electronic touch. Stepping up for the first remix are part-time collaborators Hreno and The Mole who deliver the MHMD Remix stripping almost entirely the original’s voice and melody, instead leading with a carnivalesque drum groove and frayed, oscillating synths. Scandinavian disco lord Prins Thomas keeps the melody in tact but encases it in a framework of spaceout spooky disco for his ‘Diskomiks’ and fantastic moody Dub.

Alejandra Del Pilar Iglesias Rivera was named Dinky by her sister at birth. Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, as a child she studied Ballet and the Suzuki method of piano before relocating to New York to become a contemporary dancer.

Her drive to make music brought her to Berlin a decade ago where she quickly became a dominant force in dance music, making her mark through releases on Carpark, Cocoon, Ostgut, and the critically acclaimed ´Anemik´ album in 2009 on Mathew Jonson´s Wagon Repair. Her fifth studio album, ‘Dimension D’ on Visionquest sees her evolve into singer-songwriter and performer and take on a new musical direction.

Chris Hreno and The Mole are both revered Canadian producers residing in Berlin who have joined forces in the past on remixes for various labels including Turbo Recordings, Haunt, and Souvenir. The Mole has had prolific solo output including his exceptional debut album on Wagon Repair ‘As High As The Sky’. Hreno has made a recent comeback to production with EPs on Sound Architecture and Meander.

Prins Thomas is widely regarded as a pioneer of the space-disco sounds emanating from his native Norway. Joining forces with Hans-Peter Lindstrøm in 2003, the pair both have a background in bands - Prins being an accomplished bass player - and they run and release music on own labels Feedelity, Full Pupp and Internasjonal.

Visionquest 033 is brought to you by the unique sonic voice of Hamburg trio Wareika, who weave a distorted jazz looseness into the pulsing and ever-evolving analogue framework of ‘Madame Scorpion’. A teasing raw live composition with a tribal heart, the undulating percussive groove rolls beneath haunting strings and an expanding soundscape until space opens up for a rising melody and Florian's deep absorbing vocal. Veteran German house producer Henrik Schwarz turns in a magnificently wonky remix on the flip.

Wareika started as a project in 2007 and the vivid interaction of the three musicians, Henrik Raabe (Guit, Perc), Jakob Seidensticker (MPC, Arrange, EFX) and Florian Schirmacher (Voc, Synths, Perc) forms one of the very few bands in the electronic worldwide circuit.

Their thrilling jazz-marries-techno live shows will now be captured on vinyl and CD with a fourth full-length album ‘Wternal’ recorded in one 65min take and due on Visionquest in October 2013

Henrik Schwarz has amassed a cult following for his compelling live sets and releases over the past decade and is now one of the most in-demand artists on the dance scene. Championed by the BBC’s Gilles Peterson early on, Henrik’s magic touch now graces the catalogues of inspiring labels such as Innervisions, Moodmusic, BBE and his own Sunday Music.

Hot Creations hit us with another monster of a release this time from Tom Dinsdale (ex-Audio Bully’s) under his new project Mineo. Title track ‘Turn Out The Lights’ is an intoxicatingly deep groover with a dense low riding bassline, punchy warm chords and an infectious dark male vocal adding a real standout element for the dancefloor. Over on the B-side label head Jamie Jones is on remix duty to deliver one of his best, picking up the pace and turning it into a deep and powerful techy monster, twisted and dark, perfect for the later hours. On a more uplifting tip, the second track from Mineo ‘Off The Handle’ again carries that distinct UK sound. Bass heavy with perfect underlying swing the track twists and turns through different percussion patterns with captivating distorted vocals riding through the many layers.

Tom Dinsdale aka Mineo has been buried away in the studio for the past eighteen months working on music for his new solo project. Sending the tracks to Jamie Jones and Lee Foss as demos, they were soon snapped up and have become a staple part in both of their sets, smashing dancefloors worldwide from Ibiza to Burning Man festival.

Busier than ever with his hectic schedule, Jamie Jones has been touring as a solo artist but also along with Lee Foss, Ali Love and Luca C as their Hot Natured band, headlining their own events at the likes of Brixton Academy and festivals including Sonar and Glastonbury. Along with this Jamie has been running his Paradise night at DC10 in Ibiza for it’s second year with huge line ups featuring big names like Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice but also the new artists Jamie is pushing such as wAFF and Patrick Topping. Finding the time somehow, Jamie has also been hard at work in the studio producing music with the Hot Natured crew with a recent debut album release and also doing a number of remixes for his three record labels.

Dutch producer The Close Up mysteriously popped up out of nowhere in mid-2013. With his dreamy but catchy first release ‘Better With You’, he’s all set to put himself on the electronic music map. We got introduced to him by Zip from our labelmates Homework from Amsterdam. He has never played his music to anyone - except us. The Close Up likes: classical piano music, jazzy chords, bouncy synths, catchy melodies, doing studio sessions till 5 in the morning and eating French toast.

Born as Mikael Nordgren in Sweden, Tiger Stripes has made appearances before on Get Physical, most recently his 'Beatbox EP'. Now he's returned to give us 'This Man EP', with remixes from Adana Twins and M.A.N.D.Y. vs. LOPAZZ, the release is bound to make a splash in the scene.

'This Man' opens simple enough, bright shakers and a flat kick leading to a pumping bassline. Expect a classic synth, reminiscent of the 80's to make an appearance. This 'Man' comes in two flavours, 'Day' and 'Night' versions, both reflecting the respective vibes. Light and groovy, deep and heavy.

The Adana Twins take 'This Man' and add rhythmic vocal cuts, edited to perfection and pitched to groove. They keep that heavy bassline and craft an infectious percussive track over the top. Never underestimate the Adana Twins; this track will be heard anywhere a good time is to be had.

M.A.N.D.Y. and LOPAZZ hollow the bassline out and add space in their Edit; adding strings and upping the overall vibe of the track to add another thick layer of heat on the dancefloor.

Following on from the lead track is ‘Warm Embrace,’ which encompasses airy vocals over a strong house baseline, keeping a chilled vibe.

Having previously collaborated for the floor filler Drop In Pressure on 2020Vision, Knixx and Muniz come together again for Trust Your Enemies.  Inspired by Joyce Grandmother's adage, 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer', the title track is uncharacteristically dark, with rolling, moody vocals while the remix has a more brazilian percussive / jackin house flavour.

Having repeatedly won the Swiss Nightlife Award for Best Electronica DJ 2012, the energy-driven duo Round Table Knights serve their new 2-track release on Exploited Rec, supplying the tracks 'I Just Want' and 'Whoo'.

While 'I Just Want' comes off as a fresh and unique dancefloor classic, 'Whoo' adds a twist to the release by including a tribute to NYC-based indie rock band the Rapture's single 'WAYUH'.

Gabriel Andruzzi of the Rapture granted friendly permission, adding “I'm a big of The Round Table Knights. They always seem to make some really effective great sounding tracks.” The release indeed offers an impressive series of fine, state of the art house music, which leaves the audience curious for more.

With a change in the season and the promise of balmy city sunsets on the horizon, it feels natural that dirtybird should drop a much welcomed curveball into their 2013 EP catalogue. Courtesy of Belgium born duo, GoldFFinch, the ‘11th Hour’ EP explores the label’s more implicit approach to bass, with all the richly textured, distinctively UK sounds we’ve come to expect from the pair. The EP also marks GoldFFinch’s first original dirtybird release proper, after proving their worth on the heavy hitting Players compilation and remixing French Fries’ ‘Space Alarm’ as an induction.
 
‘11th Hour’ opens the EP with a beautifully carved intro of muted, sensual synths and a blunted percussion beat that immediately picks out a swinging, London-centric rhythm. As the distant yearn of afterhours city lights emerges, the intro melts into a fluid-yet-funky roller, a languid longing for the urban twilight hour. ‘Sultry Steel’ flirts with UK Garage foundations, as the drums skip along with knowing skill and a slinky vocal sample punctuates the fuzzy atmosphere. As the track name suggests, it’s the steel drum melody that gives the beat its memorable dance floor significance.
 
Erring on the subtler side of late night bass, dirtybird has uncovered a veritable gem here. Enjoy!
