suki & Sniper1 come correct with four of the dance flooriest bangeroos I’ve heard in a good long while. There is barely a moment’s rest on this record and that is just the way I like it. If you like making people dance to the absolute max and I mean to the MAX then there is simply no excuse to not have this record in your bag.

It’s as simple as that.

OK enough of my blather. Go and listen to the damn things yourself and decide if you like them, rather than trying to work it out from reading a bloody press release you weirdos.

Banoffee Pies Records, in its eighth year of operating, hit the 20th release milestone in their Original Series. Joining the roster, Cairo based producer Hassan Abou Alam steps up with a 4 track solo EP entitled “Fasla”. A decisive selection of attitude packed wormhole bass lines and dark basement jams.

The A side was produced in a special collaboration with local artist SHBL-LBSH who’s vocal works feature across “Kesibt” + “Fasla”. The B side delivers sharp cutting synth lines in “Mawkif” and breakneck low end rumbles in “Hanshoof”. After a series of works on the likes of Naive, Not For Profit and Rhythm Section, Hassan fittingly joins the Berlin based, Bristol born label with more boundless sounds that slice through the fabric of styles that BPR have fostered since inception. The first X-Kalay release of 2022 finds Melbourne’s Escape Artist traversing wormholes, complete with an assist from the ever-prolific Roza Terenzi.

Picking up where a 2019 Salt Mines debut left off, ‘Wanna Dance’ allows proggy tendencies to flourish across some mind-altering electro. Portals to higher planes of consciousness and uncharted star systems fling open as widescreen, celestial pads make way for lysergic climax.

Ramping up the intensity with her ‘Bassbin Mix’, Roza Terenzi jumps on remix duties; another electro workout, but this time more urgent, more propulsive. Bringing the tribal-breakbeat pressure in spades, it’s quintessential Terenzi.

More prog, but leaning further towards cosmic techno percolation, ‘Levitator’ finds mazy arpeggios in seemingly infinite ascent. ‘Time Knife’, on the other hand, is a radiant, beatless highlight. Deploying cascading synth arps to truly mesmeric effect, it sees the Antipodean achieve sublime tension in a rare moment of introspection.

The next serving from the eatmybeat kitchen comes from up-and-coming Manchester based producer, Tubby Tate. Fairly mysterious, and with a style that can only be classed as experimental, his debut EP titled “No Food for Lazy Man” crosses all borders of genre segregation, whilst drawing influence from western Caribbean settings and memories of past habitats. A melting pot of dancehall, reggae, roots and dubstep, this EP is just a little taste of the imagination and intricacy of Tubby Tate’s production capabilities.

Venturing through garage, breaks, footwork and re-works, the release does exactly what it says on the tin, providing you with some serious flavours for the dance.
