Canadian Hip-Hop Artist Daybreak hails from Victoria, British Columbia and currently operates in Vancouver. His style embraces an old-school mentality when it comes to lyrics and flow and the music itself is hard-hitting and thought-provoking with cinematic elements playing over big, pounding drums and a variety of epic instruments. Daybreak’s subject matter ranges from bootlegging black market liquor during Prohibition era to ancient Samurai code and to all other aspects of life, death and the great beyond. Citing influences such as Wu Tang, Jedi Mind Tricks, Nas, Xzibit, Beastie Boys and so many more, Daybreak’s main objective is to constantly evolve as a rapper and combine his many influences into a single voice to spread the message that quality Hip-Hop is alive and well in this era.

Although Daybreak first experimented with rapping and writing lyrics at a young age, he really began his Hip-Hop music career in Seoul city where he learned to rap in Korean. Major television networks took notice of this after a video of Daybreak rapping in a Korean karaoke room went viral online and later, he performed alongside speed-rap sensation Outsider on the SBS show Star King, opened for Korean Rock singer Maya and won third place on the KBS program National Singing Contest, one of the most popular music competition programs in Korea.

Since returning to Canada to focus solely on Hip-Hop music in 2017, Daybreak has released four singles, performed shows around Vancouver and appeared on a variety of local radio programs including Feast or Famine, The Urban Renewal Project and The New Era on CiTR. ‘Set Fire to It’, Daybreak’s latest single, is an EDM / Hip-Hop fusion track producer by Snyker that blends Medieval warfare with a truly unique form of electronic music resulting in a genre-bending Game of Thrones-style revenge story.

In addition to original music, Daybreak does regular remixes of both Old School classics and recent Trap music. The next remix is of the RA The Rugged Man masterpiece Learn Truth, featuring Talib Kweli. Vancouver and West Coast Hip-Hop standout, DJ 151, features on the remix and a music video is set to release across all platforms in January of 2019.
