Smooth was established by Marco Köller from Wuppertal (Germany) in 2006 to seperate the progressive flavoured output from his other musical projects and to dive a little deeper into sounds and other musical genres. Meanwhile, Smooth has become a project for research in Dubtechno, Deep House, Garage House, UK House, Progressive, Drum&Bass and 2-Step, as these styles have been important influences in the bygone years. Marco Köller started DJing back in 1989 and producing in 1994, and since that time, he moved in many electronic music genres. Beside producing, mastering, sound design and graphic design, he operates the non-commercial audio netlabel CYAN that he founded together with Jaja.

It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years since the first "Heavy Dub" compilation! And even harder to believe the label is now 15 years old! We are very proud of this, since not many small, independent labels last this long!

The "Heavy Dub" series began as a simple idea for the label's birthday. I simply took a bunch of reggae/dub style tracks that we had released before and put them up as a free download on our bandcamp. Very soon it was clear that this is not just a small idea for the anniversary, it's one of the best ideas we had! Over the years the compilation series kept coming out every year, and for the last few we had original unreleased tracks only.
