Spring is in the air. Hope is in the air. If you live in Montreal, you know what I’m talking about.

The false promise of an early Spring is an illusion we all love or should I say need to hang on to.

With the nice light and warm weather outside, I decided to record this show in front of a “crowd” via my twitch channel. There’s definitely a different energy in sharing the experience on the moment with people all over the world. The result resembles a little more to a live club mix in a way.

So this is the part where I mention how much great music is coming out at the moment. Another new one from Felipe Gordon’s great album on Shall Not Fade, new Laroye on Local Talk, a few new ones on Heist (Fouk and Telessen remixed by Dam Swindle), Roman Fluegel’s latest one on Running Back, Deetron with the first release on Nu Groove in years, one of Franck Roger’s new album and of course Prins Thomas’s Remix of Ready In Led “Only Tonight” which has been in heavy rotation on my Session Maison weekly show on Twitch.

Big thanks to the MIMS crew for last week’s 24 Hours Of Vinyl. Had tons of fun. Sets should be up shortly.

Here'z yet another tape of my brother Royce Cheongsheem. Royce was another very knowledgable person who schooled me on some of that deep NYC loft/Garage classics. He had an intense record collection... so much so that there has been times when I'd call him & he would say, I'll call you back later, David Mancuso is going through my records for this weeks party. WOW!!! That say's a lot!! 
David was very cool to let him play the opening hours while he mingled with his guest. I have hundreds of those tapes, so I will also share as much as possible.
Royce is another brother I lost a few yrs back. I miss our conversations. He was so funny!!! & yes, 1 proud & loud Diva <3
So with that being said, feel free to listen, download & share... I just ask that you would add my link 2 spread the love or just put you got this from Manny'z Tapez. I have seen a lot of heavy weight dj's using them but not letting any1 know where they got it from. I 4give you but please remember the next time. I'm doing this for my grandson Jayden.

Slightly different from the usual mixes on this account but maybe you can connect the dots in some way..

I was asked to put this mix together from my DJ set at the Day Moves event that took place in Birmingham @ Spotlight this summer, these parties usually take place in London and sometimes various cities around Europe under the 'Night Moves' moniker. They put on some really cool interesting parties which has gained quite the reputation so it was good to be invited to play at their day party in the 2nd city...
Anyway the mix mainly comprises some of my fav rare groove joints and some recent bits I've discovered this year.

Day Moves - Soul/Funk/Rare Groove Mix

Kiss 94 fm – Norman Jay – 'Original Rare Groove' – JBs – July 1988

This week, well another honour.. this guy’s throw up was in my manor of Kilburn and Edgeware Rd ever since I could read graffiti, and that was from young.. And when I started writing in 95 the, from what I thought was an SM throw up was amazing, unique, one-line greatness executed the same every time I studied it.. Knowing it had been in my vision since the 80’s, but you don’t really study then, its later on when you yourself paint, I knew to look at these tags / throws and really see the excellence and mastery of a tool and form of hieroglyph. It was that and Up’s throw ups that I really loved as a kid.. and did so for many years.. It was only in the mid two thousand I found out the SM throw up was Eine! It wasn’t an S with a M on top, it was Eine’s… I first met him outside Petros Paint Store in Brighton in 2000-2001 he put up a sticker with EINE in block letters repeated at 45 degrees, black on pink. I knew of him as a train painter, killer full colour wholecars.. I was obviously chuffed to meet him, but I wonder how much I would have geeked out had I known he was the throw up also.
Watching what Eine did in the following years was crazy.. I think we all thought that. His transition into Art, street art wasn’t even a term then, doing things that we hadn’t seen done before, a name associated and placed in rooms and galleries that London writers hadn’t reached yet.. We get to hear about all of that, Ben brings us back to London in the 80’s and tells us about his early years and meeting like-minded others.. We talk about traveling, clubbing, train parties, painting and the beginning of his road into alphabet paintings on shutters, meeting Banksy and starting Pictures on Walls and everything that came after it, from learning to print on the job to having a painting given to President Obama.. 

Another great chat.. what a lucky guy I am… I visited Ben at his studio in South London and we talked whilst he painted a canvas.. it was dope.. I recorded it for you as always..
