Thorin - Dreaming Of A Better World - Nico Parisi Remix (Bonzai Progressive) - PREVIEW

Progressive house gurus Roddy Reynaert and Phi Phi return to Bonzai with the sublime two track EP entitled Tempora. This formidable duo have been churning out some serious beats over the last number of years and their last Bonzai Progressive outing - Aokighara - proved popular among many due to its squelching acid appeal and deep progressive grooves. A wealth of experience and creativity was the catalyst for these two striking up a solid partnership which has resulted in several quality cuts. Phi Phi is certainly doing the rounds and spreading his vast knowledge of all things electronic music. He's involved with other collaborations as well as solo works and he remains a much sought after DJ, particularly for retro events. Roddy also thrives as a soloist, his tracks are supported around the world and his unique blend between progressive and house is very much revered. It's always an exciting time when these guys get together and we're sure there'll be much more to come, so stay tuned.

First up we have the gnarly progressive vibes of Tempora which intros with a lush bassy tone consisting of chunky kick drums and a rumbling bassline alongside a superb teasing acid line on the offset. Shuffling hit hats and tight percussions provide a steady rhythmic flow to the track as those basses begin to intensify. The track winds up slowly into a frenzied and electrified groove that will surely have the floors rocking. On the break the synths raise the intensity levels even more before those solid beats return for the duration. Another top notch slice from this unstoppable duo.

Cirao intros with a very nice moving bass that sits under a muted kick drum while various percussions form up to get the rhythm moving. Mesmeric synths rise up and join a series of cool sounds and FX that give the track a lot of depth and texture. The kicks are beefed up to pumping status and the progressive vibes start to ooze out the track. Cascading arpeggios deliver a subtle melodic vein and on the break we're treated to a very nice pad sequence before the track kicks back in to full on mode. Superb stuff that is not to be missed.

Roddy Reynaert & Phi Phi - TEMPORA (Original Mix)

Stan Kolev is back with more lush progressive vibes in the form of his Circulation EP which features a solid remix from Nico Parisi. Stan's last outing here was on our special 25 years classics remixed series. He got to grips with Antidote's What Time Is Love to deliver an absolute stomper of a remix. Prior to that he gave us his own slice Unravel Me back in May 2017 with a great response on many charts and playlists. This guys sound never disappoints and we're always excited to hear his latest works.

On the Original Mix we get a taste of Stan's infectious progressive house sound thanks to a wonderfully deep and lush groove made up of sublime basses and a tight drum section. Right from the off we're drawn deep into the abyss with this one. A deep sense of melancholy washes over the track as the dark melodies combine with that deep droning bassline. On the break a myriad of melodies drive the imagination wild before a cool climax takes us back to full on mode for the duration. Top notch stuff that will not disappoint.

Nico Parisi takes to the remix desk on this one and once again he shows us his skills when it comes to creating solid progressive grooves. It has been a while since we last saw Nico but when we do it's always a special time. He has featured on several compilations, notably our ADE 2017 collection, which came after his last outing here with Attica. We've also caught up with his at Legacy Festival and will be rubbing shoulders at this year's Bonzai Retro party in November. Here Nico intros the remix with a very nice kick drum and shuffling hi hat combi. A smooth melodic synth note teases before that deep droning bassline comes through, shifting notes with ease. The subtle melodies continue and are joined by other melancholic and dreamy sequences that mesmerize the senses. The track offers a solid progressive groove with soft melodies that sit beautifully in the sound. An absolute must have track in the progressive arsenal.

Phi Phi and Manu Riga join forces once again to bring us two distinctly unique tracks on Voyage a Goa. This one is the duo's second stint in the studio together and once again the chemistry is magical as you will witness. Philippe and Adriaan are both stalwarts for us having provided a plethora of original and remix works, with consistent quality, over many years. Their tracks are championed around the world and both can boast a dedicated following. It's a pleasure once again to release another fine slice from these masters of their trade.

Voyage a Goa intros with a nice thumping kick drum and sharp, scattered hats and percussions, creating a smooth rhythmic vibe. A deep, pulsing bass adds weight as the drums become feistier. Stabbing notes give off a techno vibe with a natural flow, layering up against warm bass tones and pure progressive drive. The break reveals a much deeper groove thanks to hypnotic flutes and a striking spoken vocal and strong bass drone which leads us back into the main groove. A definite floor friendly track to move the crowd, not to be missed.

Larmes Dans La Pluie is a sublime track from these guys, no doubt referencing the famous monologue from Bladerunner. The darker groove certainly captures the essence of the scene and the futuristic society in which it was set, a fitting nod to a classic flick. The track opens with a solid kick and a rolling bass arp that locks us in as sci fi FX add texture to the sound. On the break we're thrust deeper into the groove as striking notes cut through pulsing bass laden pads before heading back into the main track for the duration. A beautifully polished construction with an epic feel, filled with drama and suspense that generates a lot of energy, top-notch stuff.

FAB CODE BIOGRAPHY

Fab Code started his career as DJ Fab in 1982. He built a strong musical background and an undisputable dancefloor knowledge by surfing over 3 decades of dance music. The large range of styles he played throughout the years goes from funky to techno, new wave to house, and many sub genres. In 88, when DJs started to produce their own sounds Fab joined the bandwagon to release his own. 1989 is the year he will score a few hits in the charts and gets awarded with a gold record for selling 450.000 copies of "On Se Calme" by Bassline Boys, his first project. During the 90's releases will follow one another under various monikers such as Fax Yourself, B.S.R. and Defcon, just to name few. Leaving the music production to focus on his DJ career, in the late 90's, Fab will play in some of the biggest clubs and parties accross Benelux and France. Extreme, Illusion, Planet Hardcore, La Raza, Le Rancho, Zenith, Der Machine, Rave Energy, Techno Machine are some of them. In 2010, after he left Belgium to settle in the UK, Fab gets back into production, releasing numerous EPs on different labels such as, KMB, Baroque, Mint & Mustard, Howz Choonz. End 2011 he becomes part of the mythical Bonzai family and signs an exclusive artist contract. The same year he plays at Daydream Festival and Supersonic Festival alongside Tiefschwarz, Mason, James Harcourt, Tofke, Rogerio Martins, Yves Deruyter, The Fly and many others. 2012, the story goes on...
