And this whole new sequence is vastly superior to the brief drum solo of the original. Top work.

I really miss those kind of super melodic tracks on games nowadays: lots of cinematic stuff and so on, but not too many soundtracks with catchy melodies.

Not familiar with the original -- but sounds like a feat of arrangement.  So many sounds.  Quite great mix and production. :)

Harlequin - TVee Wonderland

Another cover from Barry Leitch's excellent soundtrack from the Amiga/ST game Harlequin.

When I originally played Harlequin when I was wee this track blew me away for a number of reasons. It had a much darker vibe than what I was used to in games, and it CAME TO A DEFINITE END BEFORE IT LOOPED HOLY CRAP I DIDN'T KNOW VIDEOGAME MUSIC COULD DO THAT WHAT SORCERY!

And that was the Atari ST version. Discovering the Amiga version's music years later was a revelation in itself. Naturally, this remix is based mainly on the Amiga version, but there's a couple of elements from the ST version that I've grown kind of attached to and felt they ought to be represented too.

"Monochromatic Neon Lights", is my tribute to two of my favorite composers who layered the ground for my landscape in the world of music. Vangelis, Jarre, both kings who's always inspired me since an early age. The city life late at night when everyone are asleep added a melancholy emotion to this song, somehow reflects the amazing music Jóhann Jóhannsson wrote. This is my contribution to "Sound of SceneSat Vol.4"
