The Brodanse name has been brewing over the past year or so. As the brains behind the aptly named, Danse Club imprint, brothers Austin and Scott Smart are in some ways relatively new to the scene in terms of their outputs and their self-conducted label, Danse Club Records. Yet, their fairly clear-cut take on the current four four splurge has championed a handful of high level support from the likes of Carl Cox, Skream and Groove Armada even going onto collaborate with the latter in the studio.  Dripping with what they describe as "straight up house and techno", there's not much else to say other that their overall ethos behind the Brodanse enterprise  is what seems to be driving their success, one that is refreshingly simple when all it focuses on is nothing but good, solid music that makes you want to dance. 

Making their debut as the brothers perform their live show for the very first time, the Danse Club dynamos have kindly fired over an exclusive new mix to help amp up the anticipation just a month ahead of the aforementioned night, whilst giving us the low down on what's in store for them over the next coming months...

The dynamic and genre-spanning Irish producer and DJ @orla_cd has announced a new EP, Moonlight Crush, out on 25th April via our label, fabric Originals.

“A Howl’s A Howl” a single that was inspired by the historic and now-extinct native wolves in the UK and Ireland, and their prominence in Irish Mythology. The melodies build like a growl, haunting the track, a primal instinct keeping the listener moving.


The Moonlight Crush EP was created functionally to be experienced in a club or rave where Or:la feels most at home. The heavy rhythmic synths and organs are reminiscent of losing yourself on the dancefloor, the scent of smoke machines and sweat is thick in the air, lit only by the hint of a full moon.

As a multifaceted producer, DJ, and label owner, Or:la’s artistic journey has taken her from the tranquil and remote landscapes of Inch Island in Ireland to the vibrant nightlife scenes of some of the world’s most iconic venues.

Now based in Liverpool, Orlagh Dooley has become an integral part to the clubbing scene as a promoter and queer community builder pouring her heart and soul back into the place she found her own musical voice. Known for her diverse showcasing of genres, across UK bass, tribal house, deep house, breakbeat, acid, and 90’s techno, Or:la’s ability to draw connections between the subtleties of these genres is what sets her apart from the rest.

This past February, Tesfa Williams released his debut album—over 20 years into his career. Raves Of Future Past distilled decades of experience on London dance floors into a potent and powerful blend of grime, house, rave and techno. Made with an Elektron Digitakt to imitate the rough textures of early '00s UK dance music, the LP is an anachronistic history lesson that throws everything in a blender, imagining what gqom might sound like as an Eski track and giving new life to the short-lived "sublow" sound Williams helped invent with classic tracks like "Invasion," released under his earlier alias DJ Dread D.

Since the sublow days, however, Williams has become a torchbearer for UK house music and African diasporic sounds like Afro house and gqom in London. He's put out soulful hits like "Heartbeat"—recently reissued by Local Action—and released a steady stream of dance records for PMR and Strictly Rhythm. He's what you might call a jack of all trades, except for that he's actually a master of them all.

His RA Podcast charts his musical journey in reverse chronological order, starting with smooth, African-influenced sounds and winding through grime and dubstep, eventually landing at jungle. He threads a needle through diverse genres (and eras), and posits that the traditional UK hardcore continuum is a bigger spectrum than you might think, with gqom's heave and amapiano's log drum equally important in the musical equation. It's nearly two hours of UK dance music past and present, from a DJ who has lived it all.
