Overmono’s new track ‘If U Ever’ is as optimistic as they come. To be released exclusively as part of their 'fabric presents’ compilation, the track shines with bright synths, breaks and an R&B vocal that sounds like it’s been warped by sunlight. ‘If U Ever' takes Overmono's signature sound and turns it into something that could be their most radio friendly track to date. “We knew we wanted to write something that felt like the opposite of the time we were in,” say the duo. "we wanted to try and capture the feeling that summer had finally arrived, we’re round a mate's house having some drinks and it’s nearly time to head out for the night.” In that sense, it’s mission accomplished. If you think of the UK’s best techno’s most prolific techno labels, Soma Quality are right there at the top. For the last 25 years Slam’s imprint has put out consistently killer music from some of 4/4’s most leading edge producers, with the likes of Funk D’Void, The Black Dog, Surgeon and Schatrax all making frequent appearances across the imprint’s back catalogue. 

One of their more recent signings is Rebekah, the Birmingham-born producer who first cut her teeth DJing in the late 90s. After a busy touring schedule early on in her career she became a part of Chris Liebing’s CLR label, before Soma picked her up for an EP in 2015. Earlier on this year, they also put out her debut LP Fear Paralysis, an album spanning the breadth of contemporary techno.

Rebekah’s next drop on Soma will be an EP of remixes from Fear Paralysis, with the likes of Slam and JoeFarr reworking some of the album’s best cuts. With their return to Farringdon just around the corner this Saturday, Slam sent us over their hard-hitting remix of Rebekah’s Code Black to premiere ahead of their appearance.

The Human Movement project has undergone significant sonic development in the past 12 months.  From a well established house project within his underground community of Sydney Australia, Edward Macdonald’s most recent singles have elevated him to more than just connoisseur of taste, but to a producer reaching grandiose heights, one established in a delicate care for the creation of sonic universes. This ethos and new chapter of music has  now combined to create Human Movement’s first solo body of work, KINETIC.

With the release of the body of work  comes the first listen of new Human Movement original, Reframed. Reframed’s grandiose vocal chops, raging string lines and two step drum pattern make for a dark and grungy take on the traditionally glitzy garage genre. While vast in its territories, sonics and inspiration there is something brilliant about its continuity. Each build up is a narrative, each drumline a distant rhythm and each vocal chop a distinct feeling.
