Solid Steel (27th December) 2013 marked the 25th Anniversary of Solid Steel when Matt Black and Jon More from Coldcut started broadcasting together on pirate Kiss FM in 1988. It's been a year long celebration and we'd like to thank all the guests who have contributed incredible mixes throughout the year. To see off the year in style, we asked our listeners to vote for their favourite guest mix from the last 25 years and also their favourite mixes from our resident DJ's, with huge prizes up for grabs.

The guest mix you chose as your favourite from the last 25 years was Bonobo with his 'Directors Cut mix' of his Solid Steel Mix CD release "It came from the Sea", which was first broadcast on the 9th December 2005. It's his 2 hour version of the mix featuring tracks that didn't make the final cut including his own edit of Gang of Four and the brilliant Four Tet edit of Black Unity by Pharoah Saunders.

Up next it's your favourite mix from DK which was his 'Cymatic Frequencies' mix from the 21st January 2011. This was also his first solo AV mix and was packed full of musical highlights from 2010 and can be viewed here http://vimeo.com/19005861 Joy Orbison, Ramadanman and Maddslinky remixed by Toddla T all feature, alongside a Ninja Trio and a Big Dada double, plus James Blake, Caribou and Bassnectar.

Congratulations to Daniel Westlake from Tunbridge Wells in Kent, who was the winner picked at random in the competition and will receive prizes from Novation, AIAIA, Serato and Solid Steel.

The underground of electronic music is forever evolving, persistently merging and bringing together various strains of club orientated music. In fact our Friday night program, FABRICLIVE, has been focused on the very core of that since its infancy, linking together disparate sounds under one roof and giving play to pioneers and risk takers alike. Barely Legal, aka 23 year old DJ, Chloe Robinson, is a DJ who’s starting to show a knack for doing exactly that too, more about defying the genres and doing the unthinkable with her selections than re-treading old sets. 

Known predominately for a first rate fusion of grime, jungle, drum & bass, hip hop and so on...Chloe, who moved to London from Birmingham, has already scooped up recognition from a fleet of major underground players and platforms including BBC Radio 1Xtra (who picked her up for their flagship Daily Dose series last year), Hyperdub artist, Scratcha DVA and most notably the ‘godfather of grime,’ Wiley.  

Heading to our Farringdon haunt this week where she'll help toast our 15th Birthday alongside Loefah and an extended four hour show from Four Tet in Room one, we asked her to deliver yet another mix (Chloe's dropped one for our good pals over at Trap Magazine and appeared on Toddla T's BBC Radio 1 show just last week) just so that we could officially introduce her before the celebrations commence.

In Hour 2 we hand over to BFDM (Brothers From Different Mothers) who hail from Lyon, France and grew to prominence in 2014/early 2015 after the release of The Pilotwings ‘Agorespace EP’ and the elusive J-Zbel 7" ‘How I Made My Mom & Sis’ My Sexbot Slaves’. Since then they have released a string of impressive and diverse tapes and 12s which all embody the same punk/DIY design ethos and private jokes amongst the group. They’re the front runners in a new, DIY techno scene which is growing in Lyon at the moment - regularly contributing to new internet radio platform LYL Radio and Tunnelvision nights and collaborating with Lyon based labels such as Macadam Mambo. The designer who works on all their sleeves also does the design for LYL. They told us; 
"The mix was recorded by BFDM's boss Judaah and his boys The Pilotwings who have released two EPs on the label. They compiled some of their last finds : weird techno, dream house, fucked up breaks, love... Forthcoming BFDM included !"
