Moxie, one of our favourite NTS DJs at Oranj, has taken to the decks for our December 2021 wine case. Famously the master of seamlessly fusing anything from classic Chicago house to obscure leftfield breaks, or glittering disco with energetic percussive rollers, entertaining and educating club goers wherever the journey takes her. We’ve managed to secure an intimate side of Moxie’s music collection not usually shared, a selection of tracks that together in Moxie’s words are ‘tunes i love to listen to in my spare time’, that together make up a ‘downtempo mixtape vibe’ and ‘classy a mix for when people are dinking wine’.

Dutch West Coast selector, Intergalactic Gary is in charge of this month's episode of The MUSAR Show, delivering a 90-minute flawless journey through raw Chicago house, hidden Italo gems, and chugging electro tracks. Connecting electronic music bridges at its best, enjoy! 

With more than 35 years behind the decks, Intergalactic Gary involved in The Hague music scene since day one, started in the early 90s by playing squat and club parties which later continued as a residency at The Hague's first-ever house club in 1992, playing regional pirate radio stations and travel around the world through the years and become a regular guest at some of the most respectable music festivals and clubs, such as Dekmantel Festival/Selectors, IFM Festival, Unsound, Tresor, De School to name a few.

In the studio he’s laid down mutant, disco-tinged electro as The Parallax Corporation and electro and ambient synth pop soundtracks as The Conservatives, both with I-F. He's also recently collaborated with Pasiphae on Bio Rhythm, and for Stroboscopes and Smokemachines, a new documentary about underground electronic music. He aims simply to make music he would want to hear on a night out and imbues his work with a sense of melancholy, but always paired with driving dance floor dynamics that mix up analogue and digital textures.

A healthy open ear cultivated attending under 18s raves and listening to and playing on local pirate stations as a teen in the 1990s has sharpened his sonic palette.

Dance maestro, production perfectionist, mood-room mix-master but foremost artsy artist and Funnuvojere initiator creator dedicator Massimiliano Pagliara delivers the nintey first episode of the art:cast mix series and summarily did another composition of his last year introduced LSD mixes. The LSD abbreviation stands for LoveSexDreams as the mix-series focuses on music that emphasizes and transports exactly this message in an as perfect manner as one would expect from the Berlin-based artist. That Massi, how close friends call Massimiliano Pagliara, has a preference for funky vibes is also confirmed with his summer-ish take Sunset Funk, which was shortly released on Uncanny Valley. So with his LSD approach he basically continues writing this part of his story, just in an even more diverse, also even funkier way. The first four tracks – unmixed and pure – are musical pieces that were on heavy rotation during the lockdown and are from some of Massi's all time favorite artists, namely Sade, Barry White and Chet Baker. Generally the next chapter of the art:cast series includes music Massi came across during the renovation of his apartment and studio or he has been passionate about for a long time, so thoughtful listeners will recognize Italo records from Sylvi Foster or the crazy melodies from the 80s by Toto Coelo. It's more than LSD, it's a cosmic ride through funky disco vibes, it's an art:cast.
