Lose the map.

The borders that crop up when people take genres seriously have never been all that useful.  With electronic music it has been especiallyfruitless to try and map the shifting sands; where does nu-proto-tech-gaze end and afro-schaffel-disco-wave begin?

The idea of taking an aimless road trip through music brings a little romance back to into the picture. We can leave hash tags, recommendation algorithms and linkbait articles like "The Top Ten Trip-Hop Songs About Lists" behind in some grey concrete terminal city industrial park. Get the car out onto the road and go where things take you. Pull your eyes up from the screen in your hand and lose the sterile GPS voice hectoring you about missed turns.  If you need to pass the slower cars by driving on the dirt median with your headlights off in the dead of night, so be it. It's OK to lose the map, you'll still get to where you need to be.

We have quite a treat for you for our 55th episode - Coming straight from Berlin, founder of the acclaimed Vault Series and very talented producer, we are happy to present SUBJECTED. He is one of the new-generation techno producers and has been leaving his mark now for the past several years. 

He established the label in 2010 as a home for his productions for him as well as for his counterparts, Moerbeck and Sawlin (whom Subjected usually plays live with). His debut album, <a href="http://www.residentadvisor.net/review-view.aspx?id=12923">Zero</a>, was released earlier this year on <a href="http://www.beatport.com/label/vault-series/15527/tracks?perPage=150">Vault Series</a> and is truly a masterpiece – deep, raw, gritty, driving techno. 

In the next 2 hours, you will be able to get a taste of his style and more; this is part of a live recording when he played at Groningen, Netherlands, earlier this month. In the words of the man himself, this is <i>“music from under the surface, designed in the shadows, to be consumed in the darkness."</i> Enjoy!

Sawlin and Subjected are a production duo from Berlin. Since meeting in 2006 courtesy of fellow producer Mørbeck, they have released definitive techno 12"s on Subjected's self-run imprint Vault Series. As a solo producer Sawlin has also released music on Delsin's sub label Ann Aimee and French label Technorama.

With such a strong heritage and stable of releases we caught up with the duo to discuss their affair with techno and reasons for starting up their own record label. The mix was recorded at Subjected's studio in Berlin and is 100% live. Sawlin used Ableton, an APC and an iPad, whilst Subjected used Traktor Pro with a Native Instruments Maschine to generate something completely new for us.

Einzelkind is a Dj and producer from Frankfurt am Main. He is the owner and curator of Pressure Traxx, La Peña, and Harlo labels. Also, he is a Resident Dj at the Robert Johnson club.
Giuliano Lomonte hails from Andria in the south of Italy, deeply in love with vinyl and strongly affected by trippy - groovy tunes, Giuliano is absolutely passionate in playing long-lasting sets. Through releases on Sammy Dee's Ultrastretch Label, Point of View, and Frankfurt’s Pressure Traxx, you can hear Lomonte's musical vision in its purest form.
Einzelkind and Giuliano are really good friends and they are gonna release a few records together so this B2B collaboration between the two it just came naturally.

"It will happen from time to time in the future but we are not pushing it or anything. If we play at the same party and we´re in the mood we just gonna play together. So there is no big idea behind the booth sharing, only friendship and the same taste in music.
