On FABRICLIVE 80, Mumdance showcased his vast array of tastes in 2015, from ‘weightless’ experimentalism through to heavyweight grime VIPs. The mix incorporated several specially-commissioned exclusives, four of which have now been exclusively pressed to a pair of vinyl 10”s, each strictly limited to 300 copies.

On the first disc, ascendant grime MC Novelist lays down fresh vocals on his collab with Mumdance, 1 Sec, turning the XL Recordings smash into an affectionate VIP tribute to fabric. Meanwhile, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, fresh from delivering his remarkable A Year With 13 Moons LP, delivers a soaring, ethereal untitled cut.  

The second sampler opens with Mancunian bass heavyweight Acre’s No Signal, the throbs and growls of which generate one of the early apexes of Mumdance’s FABRICLIVE 80 set. On the flip, highly-regarded New Zealander Fis turns in Branch Light, which – all mechanised thuds and sinister, murky atmospheres – could be a field recording from a deserted spacecraft.
