On 20th April we invite Marco Faraone to EC1 for the first time as part of Waze & Odyssey’s Street Tracks showcase. A close affiliate to the likes of Drumcode, Rekids and the fabled Tenax club, the Italian producer is one of techno’s strongest forces today, as respected for his body of releases as his DJ sets.

Ahead of his debut with us, he sent over the title track from his next EP. Produced alongside Florence artist Hertz Collison, Solar Shade EP is out soon on Faraone’s Uncage label. Filled with heavy low-end and squashed synths, Solar Shade is the kind of thing we can imagine fitting in nicely during his Room One set later on this month.

Premiere: Solar Shade - Marco Faraone & Hertz Collision [Uncage]

Returning victorious to M-Plant after the Floorplan album and EP takeover, Robert Hood, whose work under his own name has continued to garner equal support with the ‘Paradygm Shift’ series for Dekmantel, brings the heat with this triple-tracker in May.

The original minimal techno master wastes no time with opener ‘Clocks’. There’s a sense of urgency as the track builds, looping into its crescendo with waves of staccato hi-hats. Tick tock, tick tock.

Over on the flipside there’s a familiarity in the opening chords of ‘Low Life’ that will resonate with fans of Hood’s work. Instantly recognisable, it’s stamped with his ability to bring funk and groove to the colder stomp of techno.

Final opus, ‘Go’ brings a spiralling samba tempo to the dancefloor. The punchy drumbeat is interwoven with sweeping cymbals for a highly effective infectiousness, like a call to arms, or better still, the Brazilian call to carnival.

E-Missions co-founder P.Leone returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids this September with ‘The My Lita Project’ backed with remixes from Mark Broom and Spencer Parker. 

Originally hailing from New York, P.Leone now resides in Berlin where he helms his E-Missions imprint with releases from himself and co-founder Caiazzo, exciting new artists like Rush Plus and Tred, not to mention remixes from Young Male, Spencer Parker and Lawrence Lee. Leone has also dropped a variety of releases on Rekids and Work Them Records, when not making regular appearances at clubs like Tresor and ://about blank. He now returns to Radio Slave’s respected imprint with ‘The My Lita Project’, following up his highly lauded ‘El Dorado’ EP that garnered support from Ben Sims, Jackmaster and Spencer Parker. 

‘My Lita’ kicks things off with classic synths, piercing strings and choppy vocals slices whilst robust drums march forward. Meanwhile, ‘Tight In The Pocket’ is more dark and menacing in comparison with its syncopated percussion, echoing claps and ethereal atmospherics. 

On the flip, Mark Broom drops two different remixes of ‘My Lita’; the first is a robust cut complete with disco elements like funky guitar licks and soulful voice, with the original’s stabs shining throughout, whilst the second remix takes a different route with its crunchy snares, moaning murmurs and fuzzy effects. Spencer Parker rounds things off with a remix of his own, chopping up the original’s vox whilst sultry pads join thumping kicks and quivering melodies.

Floorplan (aka Robert Hood and Lyric Hood) go toe to toe with Mark Broom for an all new rumble in the ‘Jungle’. This monster split EP sees the official release of the highly sought after Mark Broom Edit of Floorplan’s huge Gospel powered house monster ’Never Grow Old’. This ultimate secret weapon for a select few DJs over the last few years is backed by the equally mega Re-plant version of ‘He Can Save You’ which gets some extra Techno power under the Hood. The EP is rounded off by Mark Broom’s double combination in the guise of ‘Jungle’. Knockout!
