AliA is a rising producer and DJ based in Belgium, she has caught the attention of the likes of Mr. Scruff, Carista and Lefto with her intelligent selections and versatile approach.

Despite being young she has earnt a residency at the acclaimed Horst festival and has made regular appearances at C12 and De School amongst many others.

Most recently she has launched her own record label Artisjok on which the first release came from XL Regular showcasing an assortment of deep, bass influenced House music.

We are expecting to see and hear a lot from AliA over the next little while and we think you will be too.

Considering the kind of expansive work Scott Fraser has contributed over the years of working closely alongside the likes of Andrew Weatherall and Timothy Fairplay - with whom he operates his party banner turned record label, Crimes Of The Future - the Especial regular is one producer who boats what seems like a life time of musical explorations. After a long break, his prolific return to production back in 2012 pushed his trademark melancholic techno funk back to the fore with releases on Laurent Pastor’s Astro Lab and Tusk Wax’s off shoot imprint, Horn Wax, just this past year. Now, with more music dropping on Crimes Of The Future under his newly minted pseudonym, Nothing But Blood, as well as forthcoming live material under both his own name and this alias, thankfully there seems to be no hint of a second hiatus 

Venturing to Farringdon for the Daniel Avery's second Divided Love show, the Glaswegian has kindly laid down some selections to demonstrate sonically what to expect when he joins us in Room One on Friday 14th November.

Matching his signature melodic futurism with enduring club music structures, Pev brings the Pulse series to a natural conclusion with the Pulse Phase EP. On this third release he underlines the broader approach to tempos and styles he’s taken across this latest period of his output, soon to be coalesced into a new live set. 

If there’s been a nostalgic streak detectable amongst the crisp modernism of the Pulse series, it comes through clearer than ever in the looped-up house jack and starry-eyed techno synth hooks of ‘Pulse IX’. ‘Pulse TEN’ pares back for a lean soundsystem workout driven by a strafing arp and fractured drums while ‘Pulse XI’ revisits 90s bleep techno with a deep, dubby intention. ‘Pulse XII’ completes the picture capturing the skeletal pressure of 2-step at its most slender and deadly.

There’s never a sense of over-familiarity — the exacting angles of the drums and alien hue of the synths maintain Pev’s distinctive sound first and foremost. But this series has also been an opportunity to hear some of his musical DNA more explicitly than before, cast in universal rave motifs propelled by the unrelenting pursuit of new forms for the dance.

Building on the buzz around his dynamic techno releases of the past few years, Sam Goku @samgoku makes a welcome debut on Dekmantel with four striking set pieces which subvert the rules of the average floor fodder.

Through his steady stream of output on the likes of Atomnation Berlin-based Robin Wang has established himself as a must-check artist with an instinct for the unconventional. That comes through in jaw-dropping fashion on Radiants’ opening cut ‘Tides (Under The Moonlight)’, a swirling, mystical thumper which rises with graceful restraint to a thunderous peak. By way of contrast ‘Tanggu FM’ brings things up close and claustrophobic, using slippery sound design and stuttering vocals to create a different kind of maverick energy on top of the rugged low end. Even when he does reach for anthemic hooks on the EP’s title track, there’s a fundamental otherness to the sparkling chords and a toughness to the beat which edges out the competition.

This is just a snapshot of the versatility at work across Radiants, a record which will cement Goku’s position as a standout producer taking a less obvious path to truly distinctive, devastatingly original showstoppers.
