Placid aka Paul Wise is chief in command at ‘We’re Going Deep’ – an expanding online community and record label, born from lifelong affair with the many shades of electronic rhythm and obsession for collecting records since 1988. He’s spent the last 3 decades moving heads and feet at venues, parties and fields across the UK and beyond. 
On a mission to share and release new music via his label, you’ll find only the best in Acid, Electro, IDM, Techno and Deep House for the dance floor, front room or your headphones making the cut. For the 10th and final edition of his much prized various artist series, he unearths more machine fuelled magic: offering another set of equally excellent music from stellar talent.
Starting the dance, Dutch maestro Boris Bunnik dons his Versalife mantle to opens with ‘Skirmish 101’. Setting the machines to cycle, Bunnik fires a hefty slab of bass to bring down the walls whilst pristine robot like rhythms set your body in motion, all enveloped with sparse synthesis and shimmering effects. Crashing the joint with ‘Acid Baby’ - The Acid Pimp drops a no holds barred, riotous 303 workout that’s nothing short of a tour de force in exorcising the power of Roland’s most celebrated silver box. Putting pedal to the metal with drums and reverb, a smiley face or grimace is guaranteed!
Longtime collaborators Jamie Anderson & Owain K reset the dial on the flip with ‘Basement Dub’, a house paced workout that glides at a steady pace. Evoking the spirit of Mood II Swing whilst immersed in the depths of an underwater realm. Ending on the upbeat note of Konerytmi’s ‘Aamunkoitto’, the Finnish producer reflects a breezy disposition with a joyful melody, step-to electro beat and rolling acid bassline – all perfectly balanced to keep your calm and head out in the right direction, a great way to sign off on this highly collectable series.

Originally released in 2003 via London-based record label Vertical Form, Corker Conboy's album 'In Light of that Learnt Later' gets the remix treatment from Purelink, presented as a a limited edition 12-inch on Bad Info...For this special occasion, we selected Purelink's remix for the premiere. Providing a mind-altering soundtrack over the course of 7-minutes, the New-York-based trio explores uncanny territories with a blend of high-spirited soundscapes, space-echoed guitar riffs and nimble drumming arrangements.

Four years since the release of the bass-heavy 'Lemma1' EP, Norwegian born producer Tobias Sørensen Urhaug aka O.M. Theorem and label head Aarti Kriplani line up the first of two remix packages, delivering two VIP reworks and a pair of weighty remixes from Bristol-based producer Ossia and Sex Tags Mania kingpin DJ Sotofett...In the case of this remix EP, we're treated to two fresh interpretations of 'Lemma1-B2'. DJ Sotofett's remix delivers an armada of club-soaked bass oscillations, minimal synth arpeggios courtesy of LNS and space-echoed lyrics from Ghanaian artist Ekowmania. There's no doubt that this remix could easily become an anthem at this years edition of Notting Hill Carnival.

Building on the buzz around his dynamic techno releases of the past few years, Sam Goku @samgoku makes a welcome debut on Dekmantel with four striking set pieces which subvert the rules of the average floor fodder.

Through his steady stream of output on the likes of Atomnation Berlin-based Robin Wang has established himself as a must-check artist with an instinct for the unconventional. That comes through in jaw-dropping fashion on Radiants’ opening cut ‘Tides (Under The Moonlight)’, a swirling, mystical thumper which rises with graceful restraint to a thunderous peak. By way of contrast ‘Tanggu FM’ brings things up close and claustrophobic, using slippery sound design and stuttering vocals to create a different kind of maverick energy on top of the rugged low end. Even when he does reach for anthemic hooks on the EP’s title track, there’s a fundamental otherness to the sparkling chords and a toughness to the beat which edges out the competition.

This is just a snapshot of the versatility at work across Radiants, a record which will cement Goku’s position as a standout producer taking a less obvious path to truly distinctive, devastatingly original showstoppers.

No one plans to go from bedroom DJ to national radio host in the space of only 3 years, but that’s pretty much how quickly Tom Bell’s career in music took off. 

Growing up in Sheffield he started DJing under the name Toddla T as part of the city’s thriving dancehall and bassline scene, taking inspiration from local stalwarts like Mr. Hazel and the fabled Niche club. 

Throughout the early 2000s he was dubbed one of the UK’s most exciting young dance music producers, with two full-lengths and a string of singles landing on the omnipresent Ninja Tune imprint. 

His Radio 1 Essential Mix was considered a landmark moment for grime and dancehall in 2009, and less than a year later he was offered his own monthly residency on the powerhouse UK station. 

He’s also formed a special relationship with us since he first stopped by Farringdon in 2008, going on to hold a residency and put out his own mix on our FABRICLIVE series.

Most recently Bell has been finding comfort back in the studio, with his new 'Foreign Light' LP marking his first album in 5 years. As we prepare to welcome him back to FABRICLIVE on 11th August, he sent us over a mix featuring material from his new record. Speaking of the mix, he told us: 

“This is a ‘Foreign Light’ themed FABRICLIVE mix. Across 20 minutes or so you’ll hear some of the tracks from my album, mixed up with a bag of club music that’s getting me gassed right now.”
