Following three Eps and one LP Fabrizio Rat releases his second solo album on ODD/EVEN , German label by Andre Kronert. The album is conceived entirely for the dancefloor, with no rest and no breathe, no ambient or >quiet< tracks. Melodies emerge at times, resulting from original orchestrations of piano and machines. At other times more violent and static textures explore the extreme repetitions of piano harmonics, combined with slowly evolving filter-sweeping hypnosis. Fabrizio Rat starts his own techno label La Machina. 
The label will be the platform for music oriented to the dancefloor as well as to the mind.
The first release, the Double Bind EP, includes 4 tracks of uncompromising analog techno, labyrinthine sequences, hypnotic textures and banging beats mixing modular synths melodies, drum machines and acoustic piano sounds. 
On the B side, a Phenakistoscope completes the experience, as the artwork animates when the record turns. Hand and mechanism, oscillator and string, man and machine have rarely been so close.

Ho sempre avuto una relazione complicata con l’opera. Da un lato,la leggiadria di quelle arie che fanno volare le nostre emozioni. 
Dall’altro la sirena d’ambulanza che “intona” immortali melodie con mortale pesantezza: il canto lirico.
Synthetic opera è il parossismo di quel “bel” canto.
Alla forma d’onda di un oscillatore il compito di sostituire e sfottere quelle ugole formose.
Alla corrente dei sintetizzatori l’incarico di trasformare le tensioni di quelle armonie. 
In una nuova Aria. 
Elettrizzante.


I’ve always had mixed feelings for opera. 
On one side, the elegance of the airs that can move our feelings so deeply.
On the other side, those ambulance sirens that sing immortal melodies with mortal heavyness: lyrical singing.
Synthetic opera is the paroxysme of this “bel” canto.
The waveshape of an oscillator has the task to replace and tease the set of pipes of those (curvy) singers.
The electricity of synthesizers transform the tension of those harmonies.
Into new airs. 
Electrfying.

« Take a piano, the classic and romantic instrument par excellence, and project it into the hypnotic and powerful soundscape of techno music ». 

Following two Eps, ‘’La Machina’’ (Optimo Trax) and ‘’Technopiano’’ (Involve), Fabrizio releases his first album of hybrid techno, with an innovative sound palette. The Pianist combines the acoustic sounds and weird harmonics of his prepared piano with the acid loops of the TB-303 and the beats of the TR-909.
« I want to play like these machines that I love, to translate their exactitude and imperfection with my human nature, to open up new paths, and play with our errors. The repetition process let me enter another dimension, a state of trance where the physical effort disappear, and control is not necessary any more, I just need to be carried away by sound, with a bit of luck. »

Unsurprisingly, it’s in front of the dancefloor, in clubs or festivals, that Fabrizio plays his live sets. With the right hand he plays repetitive rhythmical patterns while the left one handles the machines and manipulates the piano strings.
His goal is to reach « the trance, to project on the dancers the hypnotic state of my right hand moving on the piano ».
