The early 2010s were an extended annus mirabillis for heavy-hitter Sébastien Michel, whose release of megahit ‘Mixtion’ was just the start of a trajectory that followed the shedding of his former skin as half of Daxyl and saw him pursue a more streamlined and emphatic vision of the techno future under his UVB pseudonym. Back in a time when he was hell-bent and producing up to three tracks a day, his early excursions into clubland were distinguished by sets forged exclusively from his own work; that gamut is a little broader nowadays but clearly no less exciting and personal. For the latest instalment of Bassiani Podcast series, he packs those years of toil into a succinct and aggressive strike, hedonic yet disciplined, the type of masterful studio mix you’d expect from the Body Theory label boss.

Originally from Venezuela and now based in Montreal, @isabelsoto is a techno producer, DJ and the founder of NYXII Records. She is a resident of the collective Arder.

Her hypnotic and deep approach takes the listener on a journey through both her sets and productions, creating a sonic atmospheric experience enriched by pulsating rhythms and percussive beats.

She has quickly left a mark on the music scene with numerous releases on esteemed labels such as Soma, Immaterial.Archives, Synergie, 01366, Duplicity, Second State and her own imprint, to name a few. Her work has garnered recognition and support from many artists around the world including legends like DVS1 and Kr!z.

Isabel made her European debut in September 2023, she played in several countries and graced venues such as the legendary Tresor Berlin, The Garage Of The Bass Valley in Barcelona and :// About Blank.

Spanish producer Larsson delivers a deep and hypnotic 4-tracker for Fuxbau Records, marking his vinyl debut on the label. Written in the rural village where Larsson grew up, the EP carries a sense of groundedness and clarity. Created in his parents' home, surrounded by nature and far from urban distraction, the tracks reflect a setting where ideas unfold organically. The result is a tightly cut selection of groovy, rolling techno - stripped back, hypnotic, and full of tension. This week we turn to another close Dekmantel family member in Matrixxman. In just a couple of years the American has emerged as one of the foremost producers in the house and techno world. His rugged analogue sounds have come thick and fast over nearly 20 EPs and are famous for their balance of quality, invention and diversity. Never sticking to the same sound for long, his Sector series on our label proved that, roaming as it does from repetitive peak time techno futurism to mind melting acid and back again. Always focussed squarely on the dance floor, that carries over into his always body jerking sets, many of which have been at Dekmantel events and festivals around the world. 

Over the course of an hour here, the artist goes deep into a streamlined, intergalactic techno soundworld. Supple synths are layered up over pressurised and rubbery drums, manic melodies circle the grooves and there is a sense of darkness to the whole thing that is truly compelling. As energy levels ramp up throughout, you can’t help but go hard right until the blissed out ambient end game.

Fabrizio Rat - La Machina


« Take a piano, the classic and romantic instrument par excellence, and project it into the hypnotic and powerful soundscape of techno music ». 

Following two Eps, ‘’La Machina’’ (Optimo Trax) and ‘’Technopiano’’ (Involve), Fabrizio releases his first album of hybrid techno, with an innovative sound palette. The Pianist combines the acoustic sounds and weird harmonics of his prepared piano with the acid loops of the TB-303 and the beats of the TR-909.
« I want to play like these machines that I love, to translate their exactitude and imperfection with my human nature, to open up new paths, and play with our errors. The repetition process let me enter another dimension, a state of trance where the physical effort disappear, and control is not necessary any more, I just need to be carried away by sound, with a bit of luck. »

Unsurprisingly, it’s in front of the dancefloor, in clubs or festivals, that Fabrizio plays his live sets. With the right hand he plays repetitive rhythmical patterns while the left one handles the machines and manipulates the piano strings.
His goal is to reach « the trance, to project on the dancers the hypnotic state of my right hand moving on the piano ».
