Oscar Ngobeni (born 20 June 1989) is a Hip Hop artist and is professionally known as Smash BK.
Smash BK is a former member of the group Black Kampaign which he and a friend started during their high school years. The group then became Nu Evolootion. He has now embarked on a solo career.
Smash BK provides a fresh interpretation to Hip Hop music. His Music style is a rich blend of Kwaito and Hip Hop.
Having grown up in the township he understands its struggles, experiences, lessons, and rewards. Kwaito is about the township, knowing about the township, understanding the township, and most importantly, being proud of these things. This is where and how his love for kwaito music emerged and was groomed.
To get through the township struggles, Smash BK took to writing Rap/ Hip Hop as a form of expression of his struggles and experiences. His experiences then influenced the kind of music he makes.
His life story resonates in his music and his life journey is one which emphasises the value of individual responsibility. He is an example to the youth that they should take their negative experiences and turn them into something positive that will benefit not only them but also the next generation of youth yet to come.
The work he has done includes writing songs for Erny (Black Kampaign artist) and working on a mixtape called One Man Army. Together with his group Members of Nu Evolootion, they released an E.P, The Expiremental, and an album, The birth. He also has his work showcased in Louis M Songz’ Hustler’s Ambition album.
Over the years he has shared stages with the likes of Cassper Nyovest, K.O, HHP, and Flabba.
Smash BK sees himself not only as an artist but also as a positive influencer. He plans to be an inspiration and a role model and not just an artist.
