About the artist: L1NH is a Syrian producer and DJ based in Lenapehoking/Brooklyn, known for her bold diasporic production and mixing style that blends Arab/SWANA sounds with a variety of experimental club and rave genres.

About the set: "First, I just want to say thank you for your support and allyship since day 1. 

This is the first time I got requested to submit a primarily techno-focused set, so maybe this mix will remind folks that Palestinian, Lebanese, and Syrian queer/femme/women artists exist in rave communities. 

The set also helped me unleash a fraction of the inner turmoil and emboldened, pent-up energy festering inside of me for the past year, so expect to hear a range of dissociative and ambient sounds to bassy, percussive, sped-up, and unapologetic heavy-hitters. I’m hoping this groovy yet rageful sonic journey resonates with diaspora communities and allies as it did with me while playing it."

L1NH for FACETIME - OCTOBER 2024

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Native New Yorker and Indian by birth, Jahveri has been dabbling with music production and DJing since the early age of 16. What once started off as a hobby slowly became a passion. Having different aliases in the past, Jahveri was officially born in March of 2022 when he decided to take his artist vision in another direction.

In July of 2022, he started Hypnotherapy, a podcast on SoundCloud which showcases hypnotic and psychedelic music. He has featured artists like Damon Bradley, APS, Pastels, Eric Umble, Matt Altman & many more. In November of 2022 he founded Mind Xpansion, a party with one sole purpose, to bring the minds of like-minded music heads together. Some of his prior bookings include Isabel Soto, Lychee, Deepak Sharma, Sai & Aaron J.

Currently Jahveri has been hitting the studio more than ever, taking lessons with other producers in the game and really honing in on his sound. Three words that Jahveri uses to best describe his sound would be sci-fi, sinister & hypnotic. Some of his biggest influences right now include Takaaki Itoh, Luke Slater, Wata Igarashi & Oscar Mulero.

ABOUT THE MIX: "This mix encapsulates the heart and soul of New York City from Jahveri's point of view; driving, chaotic, with moments of sorrow, happiness and always in a constant state of change, just like the big apple. Starting off slow with Alexander Metzger's UFO Invasion Intro, while building it up into Jahveri's unreleased track, Dosa Delights and eventually closing it out with Oscar Mulero's Black Propaganda, this mix takes you on a hypnotic journey, through time, space and emotion. "

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Serrian, founder of the long-running roving party Jamais Vu (c. 2013), and current Creative Director of the beloved new venue "Earthly Delights", looks at booking beyond the limits of her own taste - ditto with her DJing. Her style is eclectic, emotive, and upbeat. She crafts a story, bringing nuance and surprises to every set, with nods to acid, techno, electro, house, or even better: an amalgamation of them all.  

ABOUT THE MIX: "What a special day to release this mix for FACETIME. Today marks the last day of the first year I opened my home AKA Earthly Delights (much to my dog's chagrin, I am certainly more at the club than my actual home). Alongside some of the most talented partners in the business, we have found family with all of you on that dance floor and behind the booth.

Curating and booking is a privilege. My research and aural discovery on a daily basis, along with bringing together a community of other music lovers, has all and all made my sound filled with even more furious fervor and perverse passion that I hope you feel and you hear in this mix."

COMD for FACETIME - JANUARY 2025

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mario Diaz de Leon is an NYC-based composer, producer, and instrumentalist.  Spanning the worlds of modern classical and electronic music, his works have been acclaimed for their "crystalline attacks" (Groove), "snarling exuberance" (Pitchfork), and "remarkable textures and vivid atmosphere" (New Yorker).  His solo electronic performances have been featured at CTM (Berlin), Donaufestival (Austria), Nowadays, The Kitchen, and Roulette.
 
 
ABOUT THE SET
Sharing this live hardware set with the FaceTime community at Nowadays was one of the most memorable experiences i’ve had as a performer, and i’m grateful to Eric Umble for the invitation.  It traverses prismatic techno worlds by way of a 140bpm thread, with grooves that fluidly transform in a spirit of abundance. Over the course of an hour, a dozen interlaced tracks encompass hypnotic, saturated, and ethereal spaces.

About the Artist: NYC-based selector threehz explores the emotive sides of techno, experimental, and ambient music for every performance, taking inspiration from sludgy dark psychedelia to pulsing warpdrive drum tracks. Whether rinsing healing or destructive frequencies, as their namesake suggests, threehz knows how to craft textured, curated soundscapes on the dance floor which can be heard at multiple event series’ in NYC and residencies for The Lot Radio.

About the set: This was an opening set, so it starts low and dark and works up to a place where the energy is built up and ready to hand off.  I love to incorporate contemporary favorites with classic cuts going back to the 90s, in a way that I think cohesively marries the different eras of techno despite spanning over 30 years of time and this mix definitely reflects that. While I am usually aiming for a psychedelic, hypnotic vibe, I always feel like Bossa (especially on a Saturday) can have a bit of an unhinged energy so I tried to tap into that a bit towards the last third of the mix. I was pleased with how this turned out for a live set and am happy to be able to share it.  Many thanks to Facetime/Eric for having me!
