Constant Deviants release their fourth studio album "Avant Garde" on 12th May through their own Six2Six label on vinyl, CD and digital formats.

Been a busy time for the veteran Baltimore & New Jersey duo.  Recently they released the film "Swiss Banks" with their partners in Switzerland SWC Records, completed filming of their freestyle series "3Stylez" and have been conducting interviews with a whole range of international media.  Most recently, Emcee M.I. was seen on the new "Rapping with Leiberman" online tv chat show talking politics and hip hop with SiriusXM Host Jon Leiberman.

They have just dropped this bonus joint "Just Make Music", recorded between albums and premiered by US online Straight Fresh as part of a new feature published on them today.

Here is a track i did with one of my favorite mcs of all time.

We did it a few years ago...and i just found this remix. Pretty sweet stuff...made by Swedish producer Leoparden who i also worked with a few years ago. 

I grew up listening to a lot of Project BLowed and west coast in general.
so when this collaboration came up i jumped at the opportunity.

first time i met Myka 9 was in 1999 in San Francisco ...i was a nobody...just some shy lil backbacker girl who would end up in cyphers left right and centre...and thats where i met him ....at some after party on the floor of someones house...in a cypher...with abstract rude, aceyalone, busdriver and myka 9 with some other unknown mcs as well...he still doesnt know that we met back then though..  and i never told him...hahahahaha...cause i was waaack then!! LOL

well...then we met again many years later...and we did this song...
Myka 9 recorded his parts first...then i did mine...but he thought my parts were too good for what he had first recorded.....so he re wrote his parts to fit mine...which i think was the biggest compliment i could ever get from someone who inspired me to start rapping in the first place...  Yeah.. suffice to say now i looove the guy. beautiful man inside out!!!

Originally known as Microphone Mike, in the 80s he was a member of the MC Aces with Aceyalone and Spoon Iodine. As one of the founding members of Freestyle Fellowship, Myka 9 was instrumental in the scene at the Good Life Cafe in the early 90s. (Timetable contains some of his live recordings from the Good Life Cafe open-mic.) As one of the most stylistically advanced rappers at the Good Life, Myka 9 has had a profound influence on L.A. underground hip hop and freestyle rapping in general. Discussing the influence of Myka 9's song "7th Seal," released in 1991 on Freestyle Fellowship's To Whom It May Concern, Ellay Khule said, " '7th Seal' blew everybody's mind for at least 2 years straight. People studied that shit backwards and forwards -- even we don't know all those words. That made everybody say like 'I gotta get a tape out' or 'I can't rap like so-and-so no more. I can't be in 80s, now we movin' to the 90s.' That totally transferred our musical thought." Drummer and producer JMD said, "Mike was like the Charlie Parker of all these motherfuckers."

He is known for rapid-fire, jazz-influenced, melodic rapping, often incorporating singing and occasionally scatting into his songs. Myka has said of his style, “My rhymes take the direction of a jazz trumpet or sax solo, like Miles or Trane, if I was to rhyme in the same meter as those notes . . . that’s my concept.”
