Smashtale is parallel universe version of Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) in which events change. After the events of Sonic Heroes, Shadow hears about a mysterious mountain called "Mt. Ebbot" which has recently been discovered. Rumors say the Mountain appeared out of thin air, speculating the possibility of it being an Otherworldly place similar to Miracle Planet. Shadow is asked by Rouge to investigate the Mountain after not hearing from Sonic and his friends for weeks after they decided to explore. The locations are all familiar places from Sonic's world weirdly enough. Will Shadow leave the Mountain alive with enough information on the incidents? Or will he end up staying there like the rest?
