Operative since 2019, Rennes-based, French Coldwave trio DEPHT MOD (@depht_mod), made of Mimmo + Reff.K + Thdr [@mimmo-assi-nf + @antonin-lecreff + @thdrmusic], are going to drop their second EP, "Catch the Blue", out February 22 via Tripalium Corp.(@tripalium-corp.)

Sometimes smooth and suave, sometimes aggressive, their music is a perpetual motion, an ever-changing world, a meeting between the flesh and the machines. Composed with much improvisation, made up with 80s Synthwave, Industrial Techno and Italo Disco, their hypnotic sound loops and harrowing voices have the smell of sweat and poetry. Inspired by Bataille, Baudelaire and Ballard amongst many others, these songs are talking about quests, desires, energies, meetings.

Next up on VEYL is a new face on the label but no stranger to the music world. NEVER is the project of Stefano Santi, a multi-instrumentalist and electronic music producer who has been active since the early 2000’s. After several years of working as an audio engineer and touring the globe with bands, he has always had a parallel life as a producer with a club affinity. NEVER began in his own SPVN studio during the pandemic amidst the isolation of lockdown. His inspiration reborn after abandoning all boundaries and giving little care to traditional songwriting structures. 

The result is 'JXDY', the debut album which showcases the project’s diverse voice and technical prowess. Not confined to a particular genre, the release masterfully touches on everything from post-punk and shoe gaze to hints of death rock and electronica. From the opening strings of 'RXBT', we’re taken to a relentless world of shadows and bleeding emotion, which conjures nostalgia of days long gone while maintaining an ominous sense of future. From the euphoric, pulse pounding action of 'HVRXLD' to the utter heartbreak of 'CXLE', NEVER weaves in and out of agitation, rage and regret, fueling a fire that that continues to burn from beginning to end. 

Navigating to the crushing 'HXRNE' through the menacing tones of 'BLVCKBXRN'until finishing things up with the heartbreaking, cinematic feel of the title track, 'JXDY' is nine offerings of uncompromising passion and pain, leaving a lasting imprint on both the mind and body.

Like a beat up stroboscope slamming into a Walt Disney number, raggedy abstracted cartoonish characters are pumped, plumped & squashed into the adhoc scenery. A tree is now a paint tube or maybe a shoe horn but only because it has to be until it isn't, or maybe it never will be for you. Very filmy, sometimes flimsy and on occassion chunky; presenting to you, actual variety. Definitely not a tidy digital affair...you can hear the tape bias deep breathing & hasty splices popping with an immediacy that does not waste time to tinker. Shattered bronze becomes the glue, the glue becomes your dinner companion as well as the plate & window seat. Ex.Hale is a brand new project born in 2021 with releases on brokntoys, Sonic Groove, Voidance Berlin, Diffuse Reality, Rudiment and mixes on Mutant Radio, Abaddon and Sonidos Subterraneos. His mix for Abaddon together with some of his tracks has been picked as monthly fav by XLR8R. He started playing as Ex.Hale back in December in Barcelona (The Garage Of The Bass Valley) and then got booked in Bruxelles (Cafè Central), Verona (Brutal Forms), Berlin (Suicide Club, Tresor) and Leipzig (Um Laum).
His mix of experimental, techno, jungle and dub caught the ears of some of the most respected labels like brokntoys and Sonic Groove that offered to release his music.
