As the Summer draws in, the music keeps flowing here at WE FORFEIT. For June, we have a label we love. We have @gatedrecordings. Founded in 2019 by Dj @node and Jadey Smith, Gated has become an imprint of serious intent in the world of electronic music. 

This month, we’ve been lucky enough to speak with one the bosses of Gated, Node, about the imprint and what makes him tick. In a conversation that reveals all, and then some, we go back through the Gated catalogue and pick out some personal favourties from artists like Sound Synthesis, The Jaffa Kid and Dip Shim

In the second hour, Node takes the helm with a mix of serious proportions with gems from acid, breakbeat, electro and loads more. Expect unreleased material as well as tracks from Acidulant, Cityman Productions,  and Wave Function.

Thanks a million to Node for the interview and mix, one we will be enjoying for years to come.

"Medallion Man is co-founder, resident and the driving force behind Loose Lips. Since its launch in October 2014, he has directed its growth into a well-respected and ever-ambitious diverse musical platform; curating events, label releases, charity work, mix series, video content, radio shows and directing the blog's activities.

His own DJing continues to blossom, gaining a reputation for tempo-spanning and intriguing mixing; bringing together influences of rave culture, hip hop and abstract electronics. His bookings have taken him on American & European tours, and see him most regularly gigging in the UK where he runs Loose Lips and Techno Cafe events, as well as in Portugal, where he co-runs a club night called Wyrd Wrld in Lisboa, bringing together artists deeply rooted in the rave continuum.

He first started playing on the radio, developing a unique take on experimental and electronic music, whilst incorporating regular interviews exploring communitarianism, club culture, mental health, production, music publishing and much more. Animating several shows on different stations over the last decade, he continues to breathe new life into an evolving love affair with radio.

Back in April 2017, his radio passion inspired him to launch a new community-driven station, 199Radio; which quickly grew into a thriving, internationally recognised project. Then, this evolved into Threads, which launched in Jan 2019 and is still going strong; focused on ‘threading together’ a range of cutting edge music, art and discussion.

To unite these passions, he is also the co-founder of 'London Promoter Society' - a union that aims to bring back more cohesion and collective spirit into London's diverse musical melting pot of events; representing and bringing together grassroots promoters from various scenes, sounds and generations."
