Having received support from Ø [Phase], Developer, Border One, and other mainstay techno names, Berlin-based DJ Sanna Mun debuts on her imprint Katabasis with three techno cuts that explore the planetary frequencies. The EP was inspired by her work as an archaeologist who specializes in esotericism. 

As for the label, Katabasis started as an experimental techno event at Sameheads in Neukölln, Berlin in collaboration with local musicians and visual artists. The vision behind the project is to springboard underrepresented artists while also reinventing minimal, hypnotic, and early techno. The label’s name and imagery are derived from Western esotericism.

Hiver is a project between two minds, a sound designer and a sound engineer. Residents at Milan's Dude Club, Giuseppe and Sergio have released on the likes of Vidab and Curle Recordings.

Their sound is characterised by a well-defined plot of echoing melodies and hypnotic and haunting rhythms, and they have provided us with 70 minutes of house, techno, dub and mental sounds.

Adam Jay is a well known and highly acclaimed techno producer and DJ. His productions are featured on labels such as Monoid, Primate and Theory and his own outlets Azure and Chroma Recordings. His live acts are 100% hardware live performances and are sought after by techno and electro heads alike.

This superb E.P. on Fiedel II contains 4 relentlessly groovy tracks, that draw their mightiness from analog/hardware producing and excellent mixing.

Coming along a little bit more dubby, the title track of the E.P. is not standing back behind the other tracks. Its sharp and playful lead sequence is meandering around a pumping beat and tickles the nerves of your organ of corti. Pure aural pleasure!

Our next release is by a young Brussels based artist that will be a new name to most of you.
Foreign Material has been into music since his youth. After studying percussions at the Conservatory and graduating in history, his interest in dark atmospheres led him to techno music. The spirit of his music is a mix of ancient myths and futuristic visions. Conceptual music, both mystical and cosmic, with a link between past and future. Here's what he had to say about his EP:
"'Omega System' is a journey to deep space and beyond, to the unknown destinations allowed by the mythical and mysterious Omega relay that's been turning around Omega’s red sun since ages. But beware, the path that you will follow is dangerous and nobody ever came back. Some say that you will find death. Others that you will find great treasures. But some wise people think you will finally find Truth."

We're back with the 12th installment for its various artist compilation series. ÆX012 presents 2 new names to the ÆX roster: Troy and Albert van Abbe. You might know for Troy for his output on Klockworks while Albert van Abbe keeps pushing quality releases on his own imprints. They are responsible for 2 high-energy techno rollers which set the tone for this bold new ÆX chapter. Hiver's demo reached me shortly after I had bought their debut release on Vidab. Since that's a label I tend to buy blindly, I hadn't heard it yet, so I found myself listening to both the demo and the 12" on the same night. I immediately fell in love with the analogue sounding deep techno of the Italian duo and asked one of my favourite producers - there is nobody with a better sound, period - to have a go at one of the tracks. Tobias. (Freund) totally nailed it, again. A very atmospheric piece that fans of Convextion/E.R.P. should definitely check out.
