The first time playing Whipbird Dub from 'Call of the Whipbird' EP live, along with a number of updated and unreleased tracks, and a brand new upbeat closer featuring trumpet, saxophone and organ solos and live guitar, all dubbed via the touchscreen and guitar-to-MIDI controllers.

Inspired by music from and similar to Floating Points, Four Tet, Bonobo; tracks released on UK labels good 5-10 years ago. 

This is what happens when I put emotion into the DJ set... its not something I would play at the party but it is definitely a sound that is very close to my heart. I spent hours and hours going through hundreds of tracks in order to select these 18 that you are able to listen to.

Internal Selection 003: Martin Kohlstedt

La nuova serie di podcasts targata Parkett "Internal Selection" dedica il suo spazio ad un musicista, pianista, compositore e produttore tedesco: Martin Kohlstedt. Intrapresa la sua carriera tramite percorsi differenti che lo hanno visto alla presa con il mondo della musica jazz, per film, elettronica e ancor più anche nella sfera delle media arts, oggi  Martin ci propone questa selezione dal carattere del tutto personale e piena di carica emotiva. 

Lui stesso ci scrive  "When I sit down at the piano I play a single, small theme in constant repetition and wait, slightly annoyed, for my head to finally stop actively trying to influence my music. It is constantly composing, pretending to know everything, trying to formulate crude musical statements and construct a finalized oeuvre — going down a forced path. In my adolescence I was a lot more mature in that aspect, more focused. I could immediately dive in with complete disregard for failure. I was moved by music that was not "thought through", that was not meticulously laid out — but by the one that just flowed, seemingly without control and focussing on just "letting it happen". I tried to achieve this on my new album "Strom".In my playlist I compiled pieces that, subconsciously, react with myself in this way.." 

Da segnalare, oltre al suo recentissimo nuovo disco "Strom" (2017), sono altre due le sue uscite che hanno già avuto modo di catturare l'attenzione nel panorama musicale a livello europeo: "Tag" (2012) e "Nacht" (2014) che hanno di seguito riportato importanti reinterpretazioni con artist come FM Belfast, Christian Löffler, Douglas Dare e Mathias Kaden. In collaborazione con Rough Trade, finetunes, Kick The Flame Music Publishing, ROBA Music Publishing e Broken Silence tutti i suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati sulla sua etichetta "Edition Kohlstedt".
