Tar Of (@Tar-Of) is the art pop project of NY-based artists Ariyan Basu and Ramin Rahni. With their techno side project as Googoosh Dolls (@googooshdolls), they throw the annual Technowruz parties in Brooklyn, which feature Iranian electronic acts, art/zines, video installations, and tea/sweets. Tar Of mixes elements of texture, electronics, and harmonies to create dense soupy pop, taking cues from everything ranging from dad pop to avant-garde media. They released their debut full-length, Instant Light, last year on Glass Orchard Records.

In this series, they explore the tradition of ruhowzi and theatrical performance in Iran, in particular tracing the legacy of the Shiraz Arts Festival and the burgeoning Iranian avant-garde movement of the 1970’s. Their playlist includes influential Iranian composers of this time, Western artists who informed/participated in the Shiraz festival, as well as several contemporary electronic arts.

تاراو (Tar Of) یک پروژه‌ی هنری پاپ از هنرمندان ساکن نیویورک، آرین باسو و رامین رهنی است. در پروژه‌ی فرعی Googoosh Dolls، آنها سالانه در بروکلین مهمانی‌های تکنو نوروزی برگزار می‌کنند، که شامل نمایش‌های الکترونیک ایرانی، کتابچه‌های هنری، ویدئو اینستالیشن و چای و شیرینی است. تاراو عناصر بافت، الکترونیک، و هارمونی را با هم ترکیب کرده و با استفاده از نشانه‌ها از زمینه‎‌های مختلف، از رسانه‌های محبوب گرفته تا رسانه‌های آوانگارد و پیشرو، ترکیبی فشرده از پاپ می‌سازد. آنها اولین آلبوم کامل خود را در سال گذشته با نام Instant Light توسط Glass Orchard Records منتشر کردند.

در این مجموعه [برای فالگوش]، آنها به کاوش در سنت روحوضی و اجرای تئاتر در ایران، به‌ویژه میراث به جا مانده از جشنواره هنرهای شیراز و جنبش نوظهور آوانگارد ایرانی در دهه ۵۰ میپردازند. پلی‌لیست آنها شامل آهنگسازان تاثیرگذار ایرانی مربوط به این دوره، هنرمندان غربی که در جشنواره ی شیراز شرکت کرده‌اند و همچنین چند هنرمند الکترونیکی معاصر است.
