Week 25 for the Song-a-Week Challenge.
Theme: Fast

I try not to use demos for song a week, but for multiple reasons I've had to settle this time.  I gave myself two hours to write and record whatever came out.  Fortunately, inspiration showed up just in time for me to at least get something down.  There's so much more with it I want to do now, so I look forward to revisiting it in the future.  Oh yeah, to meet the theme: the tempo is fast and it gets over with fast.

Ivory Keys


Born into nothing, you had a hunger
And something to prove to the people who looked down at you.
Shocking and bolder than a chip on your shoulder,
You harbored resentments, and reckonings overdue.

Setting the guns up, and only when you were sure 
You shot a cannonball across their bow.
But you’re out for blood, and the fear’s not enough -
The debt will be paid by a thousand cuts

And as the plan is laid,
Their bed is made
but yours is too

The weight of your anger is sinking you
Will you let it pull you down?
You are caught in the knots of the pain you have wrought

Week 48 for the Song-a-Week Challenge.
Theme: Lies

Originally I didn't think I would have time to flush this out.  Once I started recording I got really into it, so apparently it was more of a motivational issue than a time one.  Either way, I'm happy with how it turned out.  This time around the lyrics are both personal and pure fiction.  A little from both I suppose.
