A few weeks ago ThatManMonkz was visiting Miami and we were lucky enough to book him for a gig at Bardot.

He runs his own label called Shadeleaf which has been putting out some serious track from the likes of Saine, FunkyJaws, ManMadeMusic, and Kon. 

Monkz manages to tread that fine line of simultaneously picking up props from all angles and wrecking dancefloors the world over whilst remaining resolutely underground and focused on the more interesting corners of dance music, so much so that RA have rightly stated that ‘Despite the pivotal part his hometown has played in electronic music history, you can't shake the feeling that if this were the work of some auteur from Detroit, Thatmanmonkz would receive much wider recognition from the house community.’

With remixes aplenty, and solo releases out shortly via D.O.G and Classic, much more from Shadeleaf, and an album due later in the year, '15 looks like it will be an even bigger one for this Steel City resident.

Station H Podcast Ep 2 - with Kiko Navarro, Richard Earnshaw & Lee Bright

Sometime Urbantorque founder Leigh Morgan has enjoyed something of a career rebirth since establishing the Fancy Human label in 2015. Wafting Capacity is his seventh release for the imprint in just over two years, and includes three more quietly impressive chunks of melodious, heavily electronic deep house. Check, in particular, the title track's undulating electronics, rubbery beats and lilting synthesizer motifs, which combine to create a jolly, analogue-rich mood. Elsewhere, Morgan explores his love of vintage synthesizers and drum computers on the jaunty synth-pop/deep house hybrid "Vexacious Foot", before wrapping more deliciously melodious motifs and jazzy synth flourishes around a rolling groove on blissful closer "Delicate Doors".
