Recorded at Giegling Melbourne - @alexalbrechtmusic treats us to a live set featuring his warm, immersive sound. Moving fluidly between ambient textures, deep house, and groove-heavy downtempo, his work has found a home on labels like Mule Musiq, Scissor & Thread and Analogue Attic, with releases that capture everything from late-night introspection to sunlit, outdoor euphoria.

We’re excited to share the Far Blue perception of Zürich-based Serenne with you today. After catching her live this summer, we were pulled in by the way she blends lush, dreamy sounds with darker moods. While keeping things subtle and immersive, she brings that same energy and depth to this one-hour mix.

“I recently had a conversation with Ben Kaczor, who mentioned an artist I hadn’t heard of before: Hilma af Klint, a Swedish visionary whose work immediately spoke to something inside me. Touched by her paintings, I printed two of her blue-hued pieces — The Ten Largest, No. 1 (1907) and Childhood and Primordial Chaos (1906–1907) — hung them above my setup, and started recording this one-take mix, letting myself drift into the world they opened.

But as I listened back, I found myself entering something else entirely — something that goes beyond those paintings — something deeper, something that transforms. A space beyond sight. That’s where the journey begins for me. And I hope that, for whoever listens, it becomes something personal too. Maybe even a small doorway to something deeper, something invisible… just as Hilma found through her art.

This mix also features beautiful tracks from many dear friends — I feel grateful for each of their creations.”

November 2021 I started a commissioned mix series with people I truly admire. Music has always been a big part of who I am, and it naturally shapes the world I create around the salon. As much as I love hair and the space we’ve built, I also love music — the way it shapes moods, holds space, and shifts how we feel. That’s why I wanted to share it by inviting people from different fields to put together a journey for us — a mix or playlist we can play while working.

What I look for is music that makes you want to listen, let go, move, and dive in. Sounds that can carry you completely, or simply colour the room in the background.

For this edition I once again asked a long-time favourite, Carsten Jost (Dial). The request was simple and open: somewhere between ambient and a personal journey. A mix that builds slowly, shifts, and surprises. Music for the salon during the day, and for those moments when you just want to drift, sway, and lose yourself.

What came back was exactly that.
