Yoga is the fashionable thing now. Yoga, as translated, means joining, yoking two separate things together. I am sure it had quite a different meaning at the beginning. Yoga meant probably harmony, not bringing two things together, the soul and the body. Yoga has been brought to the Western world to make people healthy, happy, young, find God. Originally, from what I was told, there was a certain leaf in the Himalayas which only very few people chewed, and it kept their brains and their minds tremendously alert. And as the vine or the bush disappeared, they had to invent a system called yoga which kept all the glands perfectly healthy, operating efficiently. And that is how yoga came into being, the exercises. Also in it is involved a moral way of life, not just doing some silly little exercises.

Hoffnungsschimmer 

Die wärmenden Sonnenstrahlen prickeln sanft auf der Haut wie ein Kaktuseis, in der Kindheit, auf der Zunge. Der Duft von Grillgut liegt in der Luft und ich atme unverbrauchten Sauerstoff, tief in meine Lunge. Ich liege gemütlich, auf dem Terrassensofa gebettet und blicke in den azurblauen Himmel. Meine Gedanken kreisen und ich betrachte andächtig das Wolken Gewimmel. Die momentane Lage erscheint so hoffnungsvoll. Augenscheinlich ist die Pandemie bald vorbei, nehme ich optimistisch gestimmt zu Protokoll. Langsam kehrt die natürliche Normalität wieder in unser Leben zurück. Menschen dürfen sich treffen, die Gastro öffnet und auch Clubbesuche rücken in greifbare Nähe, zum Glück. Selbstverständlich gibt es berechtigte Zweifel und Vorbehalte. Niemand weiß, ob der Wind nochmal dreht und es demnächst, wieder gemäß der „Neuen Normalität“ zugeht. Doch nach dieser monatelangen Durststrecke ist jeder Strohhalm absolut willkommen und wird dankend angenommen. Allgemeine Aufbruchsstimmung macht sich breit und ich bin sowas von dafür bereit. 

Der heutige Podcast stammt von dem Hannoveraner DJ & Musikproduzenten El Batos. Er ist Teil des Kollektivs Ketoga und Mitglied der MoynMoyn Festival-Crew. In der Vergangenheit bespielte er bereits diverse Clubs & Diskotheken in ganz Deutschland. Darüber hinaus zieren Auftritte auf international renommierten Veranstaltungen wie bspw. dem Fusion Festival seine Vita. 
Mit diesem Set für KataHaifisch verbreitet El Batos unmissverständlich sommerliche-gute Laune. Füllige Percussionteppiche treffen auf mystisch anmutende Melodien. Säuselnde Vocals wiegen sich elegant zum Takt der Basslines. Harmonien füllen den Raum mit leben und Song schmiegt sich gekonnt an Song. Das Gesamtpaket ist eine stimmige, musikalische Komposition und gleicht einer Begrüßungszeremonie für den Sommer.

Our last collected cast for this year comes with a bunch of deep and melodic down tempo sounds. Nico is an absolute expert in creating powerfull DJ sets. Through his work with his own label @katahaifisch, he has a big pool of inspiring artists and tracks wich he always use thoughtful and careful. 

We´re very happy to welcome Nico in our little podcast family.

We´ll also want to say thank you guys for you loyalty and your support during the last year. We´ll be back soon in january with some great new acts!

On the eve of the Spring equinox, Hekske (the little witch) and Falke (the 9-year old witch apprentice) kissed good night to Lalita, the nymph who is the protectress of the little oak tree.  This young tree is only 3 feet high, but is destined to live for 1000 years and become the future mother tree of the witch’s forest.  Actually, the March equinox is a very special moment for the nymph, as she arrived exactly 2 years ago in the witch’s forest in Flanders, after an epic 2-year walk all the way from the far end of the Malayan peninsula in South-East Asia.  So, after her evening yoga session, the nymph didn’t go to sleep as she had other plans.  She gently woke up the family of badgers (who live in an elaborate network of tunnels around the little oak tree) and they got to work.  Lalita had collected immaculately white sand and pitch-black charcoal and asked the badgers to draw patterns around the little tree with these 2 materials.  The animals couldn’t see what they were drawing in the dark night, so they drew all kinds of mystic symbols by simply following their instinct.  They worked frenetically all night long and it was only in the first morning light that they finally could see what they had been drawing all the time.  Magically, the white sand and the charcoal had arranged itself in mesmerizing geometrical pattens, like circles, triangles and octagons.  Exactly at that moment Hekske and Falke arrived at the scene and they were awestruck by this beautiful and elaborate black & white figure.  Lalita explained that this is a yantra, a magical maze of geometrical patterns with many hidden layers, and with the little oak tree right in the middle… the holy ‘bindu’ point.  The girls held a morning yoga session around the yantra and after that, Hekske and Lalita walked barefoot over the yantra until they could touch each other, with the tiny oak in between them.  They looked each other in the eyes … the bright green eyes of the little European witch locking with the intense black eyes of the Asian nymph.  After a few minutes, they raised their right hands and laid it on the chest of the other woman… the milk white skin of the witch touching the golden brown skin of the nymph, feeling their mutual heartbeats.  All the animals and birds who came to watch this ceremony, held their breath.  Then the girls started to move around in circles around the little tree.  First it was just a slow shuffle, but gradually they reached a state of ecstasy and whirled like dervishes around the future mother tree in increasingly fast circles.  Finally, they spun out of control and fell down.  After the dust had settled, they saw that the black charcoal and white sand had arranged itself into a new circular pattern… yin yang …

It feels like driving a fluffy bike through winter scenarios passing empty streets and flickering lights jumping between skylines. Deep and driven on one hand. Psychedelic and etheric on the other other. A lovely conjunction between two sides of the same coin. Certain tracks have been especially modified and slowed down for this mix to give the experience a more profound touch.

Arkadiusz, the founder of @afterhour-sounds, manages to lure you into a journey made of slow dreams and gentle visions. Steering the wheel slowly into a mixture of breakbeat and uplifting sounds to land the spaceship where it belongs: between your cheeks as a warm and cozy smile in cold winter days. Something happened. What it is might stay a mystery but you will remember it within your body. It's music embodied through soul.

Die beiden Tim &amp; Struppi Agenten waren in 2012 so mit die ersten Künstler, dennen ich bei soundcloud über den Weg gelaufen bin. 2013 haben sie uns dann auf dem schönsten “von Freunden für Freunde” Fest mitten im Dorf den Tag versüsst mit ihrer Musik. 

Ihre Sets sind immer eine besondere Reise … fangen oft mal ganz unscheinbar an und entwickeln sich nach hinten hin mächtig grandiose – Stimmungsbögen das können sie ;-)

(Story continued from Witchtape #31)
That morning the little witch was in a frisky mood when performing her daily inspection round in her forest.  It was one of the first days of March and while walking barefoot in the ice-cold mud, she sensed that spring was slowly awakening, with all the birds vigorously singing their best songs at dawn.  The young witch started to sing a sweet song while walking gracefully through the woods, making sure not to trample any snow drops or crocus flowers.  But then all of a sudden she froze while her heart skipped a beat.  In the middle of the still leafless forest she spotted a completely green tree which hadn’t been there one day before.  She quickly realized this was the little oak tree which she planted 2 years earlier (in witchtape #22).  This tiny tree was destined to become the mother tree of the forest and was poised to live for over a thousand years.  Yet, during the two years after planting, it had barely grown taller, although the badgers (who had dug an elaborate network of burrows and tunnels around the tree) had reported some intense root activity during the winter.  The roots of the future mother tree were easy to recognize as they emitted a pleasant pinkish glow in the dark tunnels of the badgers sett.
The girl cautiously approached the tree and noticed it had grown prodigiously during the last 24 hours and on top of that it was fully covered with fresh green leaves.  This was in complete contrast with all the surrounding trees which were still without leaves.  She stretched out her hand, and when touching the tree, hundreds of blue flowers magically started to bloom simultaneously all over the tree (which is quite amazing given the fact that oak trees are not supposed to bear blue flowers).  And more amazingly, the immaculately white dress of the witch had changed into a beautiful blue color and flowers were blooming on her dress and even in her long brown hair, while the branches of the tree started to move and some twigs hugged the girl tenderly.  The witch and the tree engaged in a tender embrace, and all of a sudden the girl felt connected with every living being and every stone of the whole forest, experiencing an overwhelming amount of endless love.  Meanwhile all birds had stopped singing and held their breath…
