Based in Paris, Voiski’s artistic identity can be described simply as music fanaticism. His career is almost hard to keep up with as it’s always taking turns and reinventing itself. Regularly shifting between genres, he has released on quite the collection of record labels under the Voiski name such as Dekmantel, L.I.E.S., Delsin, and Bassiani to name a few.

Unmasked launches Theoria, a new interview series focusing on vinyl labels. As first guest, we are pleased to present you Fleisch records.🩸
In the past seven years, Fleisch has become synonymous with raw body music, since its infamous debut with the release of Schwefelgelb's 'Wie Die Finger Durch Den Nebel. Born from a collective in 2014, the label has evolved throughout the years, without losing its very peculiar identity born from friendship and the imprint of like-minded individuals.

Discover this and a lot more in this interview with Alison Lewis aka Zanias, one of the two original founders of the label. She also put together an eclectic mix for us, where she played just tracks released on Fleisch for a real deep dive into the aesthetics and unique identity of the label.

Knife presenta Maedon, DJ y productora nacida en New York con sede en Berlín.
Su album debut y algunos tracks fueron lanzados en el legendario sello Sonic Groove de Adam X ,próximamente saldrá un track en un V.A para Deviate.

“Esta mezcla es la primera que preparo en un año y medio. Han pasado muchas cosas en este tiempo, como todos sabemos. Comienza con una pista muy esperanzadora y abarca un rango dinámico de sonidos que expresan todas las emociones que he sentido durante este último año y medio.

Estoy emocionada de compartir una pista inédita de Crystal Geometry titulada Utopia; saldrá a finales de este año en Sonic Groove. También incluí una pista mía inédita que envié para una compilación de Deviate; estará disponible este verano.

En cuanto al proceso, esta es literalmente la primera mezcla que he elaborado con la que fui extremadamente meticulosa, también es la primera mezcla que preparé con Ableton Live. Los pocos podcasts que hice anteriormente se grabaron en Rekordbox usando un controlador Pioneer simple. Comencé a usar Live hace unos dos meses, por lo que armar esta mezcla realmente me ayudó a aprenderlo aún más ".

“This mix is the first mix I’ve put together in a year and a half. Much has happened in this time, as we all know. It starts out with a very hopeful track and it spans a dynamic range of sounds expressing all the emotions I have felt throughout this past year and half.

I’m excited to share an unreleased track from Crystal Geometry titled Utopia; it will be out later this year on Sonic Groove. I’ve also included an unreleased track of mine that I submitted for a Deviate compilation; it will be available this summer. 

As for the process, this is literally the first mix i’ve ever put together that I was extremely meticulous with, it is also the first mix that I put together using Abelton Live. The few podcasts I have done previously were recorded in Rekordbox using a simple Pioneer controller. I started using Live about two months ago, so putting this mix together has really helped me learn it even deeper".

Sickarone populates this EP with his signature modular synth breaks and a plethora of old school jungle samples that he finds himself sonically attracted to. 
 
A little fun fact; while recording one of the best takes for a track on the EP, Sickarone’s cat jumped on his MPC inspiring him to name his whole EP and that track “Rudecat”.

Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series we present: Roma Ptashenko

From 2012 Roma has found his inspiration in the roots of rave culture — the 90s: Belgium with its accelerated-rough rhythms, melancholic trance and acid with its emotional edges, Britain and hard trance from Bonzai Records, as well as early releases on German Harthouse and rave revival from ТРИП label. 

His first DJ experiments took place accordingly: two old decks, CD disk records and endless mixing.

As a result, Roma's sets have become adjust compositions that belong to the dancefloor, but leave the space for real bangers. The big-bit track smoothly enters techno cage: Cari Lekebusch suddenly weaves with Nina Kravitz's sensual hits, and Prodigy remix drowns into progressive house of the duo Der Dritte Raum.

Over the past few years, his performances could be regularly seen both in the main Moscow techno-mecca Mutabor, and in St. Petersburg's Blank or the closed underground space of Raf25, in Tbilisi's Drama Bar and Yerevan's Poligraf.

Roma is a member of two iconic Moscow communities: the Volchok streetwear project, where he leads his series of podcasts and organizes parties. And the Popoff Kitchen music queer community. This year, the association was included in the list of the most influential projects that form youth culture.

Her approach to interpretation has always been grounded in the belief that 'feelings come first'

  About the mix:
 "Feeling a bit drained by winter and under the weather, I wanted to create something comforting, like that old plaid you love to wrap yourself in.
As a teenager, I used to listen to mixes in bed, dreaming of being in clubs while drifting off to sleep, caught in the loop. I tried to capture that feeling here. Hope you enjoy it !"

Her dynamic progression is celebrated in the energetic dance floors of local clubs such as Grelle Forelle and PRST, and echoes internationally with appearances for Herrensauna, Marcel Dettmann's "Bad Manners" and playing at venues like Blitz Munich, RADION Amsterdam, Tresor Berlin and Lighthouse Festival Croatia, Menal Batti continues to transmit her compelling rhythmic narratives with an atmospheric touch, demonstrating the evolution of her musical identity.

Fast Forward Audio Series #106 - Menal Batti

For the March edition of the Audio Series, we are pleased to present: Shanda

Based in Berlin, Shanda is a DJ & Co-founder of the collective ABYSS (HK) from Hong Kong. With her classical music background being a flutist and love for rave parties, she has played countless shows at Hong Kong underground clubs such as OMA, Social Room, and other top-notch venues. She performed at one of the biggest music festivals in Hong Kong, Clockenflap 2023, and was invited to headline several club nights in Vietnam, Australia, and China.

In pursuit of music inspiration, Shanda recently moved to Berlin, Germany to further explore her sound. She started to be seen very quickly in esteemed Berlin clubs such as RSO, Club OST, OXI, Renate, and Alte Münze. She has also recently debuted at Berlin's legendary techno club, Tresor for their new faces night and completed her first Asia Tour to Hong Kong, China, and Singapore.

Her sound is a blend of dark grooves, raw techno, and psygrooves, pulsating with vibrant percussions and unexpected rhythmic twists that often bring surprises to her audience.

About the mix:
This one-hour mix explores the challenges of love in our complicated era. It captures the essence of a first meeting, the ups and downs of a relationship, and the magical moments that coexist with the struggles. In this mix, I’ve pushed the boundaries of my usual sound, incorporating new elements and rhythms. I hope you enjoy this special art piece of mine!

Fast Forward Audio Series #107 - Shanda

The April edition of the Audio Series is here, happy to present you with: Monster

With over a decade of experience under her belt, Monster is now rightfully taking her place among Europe's best DJs. Showcasing her omnivorous taste for euphoric and fun music, Monster can be heard playing techno, house, electro, acid, old-school trance, breaks, and everything in between, usually championing producers from her local Polish scene.

Her career started in the late 00’s at Rozbrat, an anarchist squat and social centre in Poznań, Poland. That's where she started throwing Squat The Electricity nights, working tightly with the local scene, popularising electronic music among activists and activism among electronic music fans. Today, she's a member of Oramics, a Polish platform supporting women, non-binary and queer people in electronic music. Their actions came to worldwide attention thanks to the Total Solidarity compilation.

About the mix:
"The mix showcases some of the fast and modern, mostly 4x4 tracks that I've been enjoying recently as well as some broken beat intermissions. It's perfect for the ending of Venus and Mercury retrogrades that we can now all recover from."

Fast Forward Audio Series #108 - Monster

For the May edition of the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: Nuir

Nuir is a self-taught producer and DJ based in Paris, known for her boundary-pushing approach to electronic music. Drawing inspiration from a rich electronic music culture that spans IDM, trance, techno, and the free party scene, Nuir has carved out a unique sonic identity.

She made her debut as a producer on Mama Told Ya and has since continued to push boundaries with her sound, releasing music on labels such as Maison Close, Ghetec, and, most recently, TM8.

Rooted in Parisian club culture and the French free party movement, Nuir has performed across numerous European cities, including Copenhagen, Bristol, and Yerevan.

Her music has received support from internationally recognized artists, including Mama Snake and Anetha, affirming her growing influence and fearless ability to merge hardware, software, vocals, and live instrumentation into a singular, evolving sound.

About the mix:
This one-hour mix embodies what I seek during this challenging time we are facing — a sonic space for both release and reflection. Deeply connected to the culture that has shaped my identity, I am now driven to contribute to this vision: music as a powerful political and emotional force, creating a space where everyone can freely express themselves.
I wanted the mix to reach both emotional depths and euphoric highs — blending deep introspection with high-energy club sounds. It's about connection through contrast, and the healing power of dance.

Fast Forward Audio Series #109 - Nuir

When looking at Clouzer today, it’s hard to picture this bright, blue eyed soul covered in piercings while banging a head full of dreadlocks to heavy metal. But, you better believe it because that’s exactly where Clouzer’s journey with music began.

Born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Clouzer was once a “heavy metal dude, playing guitar in an alternative band.” During this time, he took up work as a CD pusher for a small music and video store. Taking on the role as the ‘Metal’ specialist, Clouzer was soon introduced to the sounds of electronic music through a co-worker. He credits this individual’s impeccable taste and his very first rave as the catalysts that would push him towards a career in electronic music.

In 2007 Clouzer recorded his first mix. Over the next 10 years, he embarked on a journey of self-discovery, developing his skills both as a DJ and Producer. Today, he may heard playing across Toronto at CODA, One Loft and the Secret Society Sessions.

When creating this mix today, Clouzer notes “I didn’t feel any borders when I was working on it, the borders you usually feel when you work on a podcast series. I realized that it’s a great occasion to mix something special for me. I used to play this kind of Electric genre (nu disco, electro) quite often back home, especially at home private parties, but I have never made any mix like that for the last 10 years of my journey. It wasn't easy, as tracks in this particular genre are specific and you don`t have much room for transition, as the BPM variety is so random. I started my mix in 108 and finished it by 127. It took lots of effort to finally make a story that satisfies me.” We hope you enjoy the story too!
